Very nice (Roussel was more Farwell, IIRC, but it is a fair analysis):

Bland NHL needs Clarke's character

By STEVE SIMMONS, SUN MEDIA

TORONTO -- In a hockey world immersed with vanilla diplomats, Bobby Clarke has always been a myriad of distinct flavours.

He could be tasty or tasteless, all in the same afternoon, if not the same sentence.

He could be a breath of fresh air or full of hot air, depending on the moment, the minute, the circumstance.

Thanks, Miami. This was a great, great, and most importantly, accurate article.

Right decision but it still hurts and I'd imagine until I see Clarkie with the Flyers in some capacity...the hurt wil continue . Goodbye Bob, you are and always will be "the man."

You're welcome. I have read some nasty articles the last couple of days but I thought this one was supportive without being obsequious.

Excellent article Miami. It's always good to get the perspective from outside of Philly from time to time.

Been following Clarke since way back in the 70's.

Having grown up in Montreal I got to see Sam Pollock and Bowman. There was no better combination

Then came Al Arbour who was amazing. Lord I hated and respected those Islanders teams.

IMHO Clarke was only a notch below.

Even though Clarke never won a Cup as a GM, some of his moves were amazing and reminded me of the best that ever were. No one get's it right all of the time and he did make some bone headed decisions.. But at the end of the day he was exceptional and I will miss him. It wouldn't hurt me one bit if he stayed in the Organization. And I hope if he decides to GM again - it's here.

Thanks B.C.

Thanks Bob

being a diabetic myself, i thank the flyers for giving a young, feisty diabetic a chance at pro sports. and man what a carrear he had. loved by the loyal flyer fans, and hated by fans of every other team.

and then as GM, he was a very tough negotiator and made some very good trades.and set the flyers up as a consistent 100 point team for many years. its to bad he wasn't able to pick up a cup for us as GM.

so thanks for everything you have done for the organization Bobby

I thought Clarke was a good GM. One thing you knew he would do anything he could to win, and that is all anyone could ask.

Props.
