What happened to that rumor about us trying to get Coburn and Talbot?

DEFENSEMEN: Mark Fistric, Douglas Murray, Ron Hainsey

I'd like us to get at least one of those forwards, as for the Ds I'm not sure those are upgrades on Diaz, Tinordi or Bouillon, unfortunately.
Add Cleary, Fistric, trade for Clifford. deal DD and Gionta.

Its actually kind of amazing how anti-homer this board is. Most fanbases would be hyperventilating about their team if they finished top 5 in the league. This one is convinced the other shoe is going to drop.
sorry if the early and embarassing playoff exit is hard to forget

If the UFA market was like looking for escorts, at this point we would be stock at 5AM at the corner of Ontario and Frontenac with $9.34 in our wallet.

Also we shouldn't be too down on our team we did finish 1st in the NE last season. Our team isnt half that bad, although the loss of Emelin will hurt. We've got plenty of skills up front, plus Subban and Price to back us up. We've got a lot of good players, let's hope Therrien can continue his good work.

If Eller, Galchenyuk, Gallagher and Tinordi play well, we've got a solid team. We just need the older guns like Briere, Markov and Gionta to play like they can and we should be fine. I hope Pacioretty plays better than in the playoffs also.

Or, the real reason: it was never actually a legitimate rumor.

Just something some Habs fan made up that can now, apparently, be held against Bergevin.

Tell it like it is... Our defense ****ing blows. If we dont address this issue before the season starts, were going to be in trouble. Especially with Emelin being out until December.

Well hopefully Galchenyuk and Gallagher continue to improve and Desharnais goes back to his 11-12 level.

It's ok.. We have Diaz and BOUILLON.

It wasn't a need that must be addressed. We needed Briere.

Well, I don't think the Habs will be bad by any means, but I genuinely think the Bruins were better than us last year, but we had the benefit of half a season. And while I don't think their improvements are game changes, I think they at worst will be around the same as last year.

It's also arguable the Sens are better than us. Not because of the playoffs, I'm not going to buy into a 5 game sample size, but because they did that despite missing Spezza and Karlsson much of the year. And with Ryan they are that much better.

I said last year I wasn't afraid of Detroit, and they still aren't what they once were without Lidstrom...but they probably had the smartest free agency of any team, and are still well above average.

Right now we are slightly worse than we were last year. Starting the year without Emelin however is a big blow, and I'm not sure if I really trust this coaching staff.

I'm among the minority who think we are better than the Leafs though. A team with that atrocious possession, plus getting rid of one of their better possession players for nothing, I can't see them sustain last years luck, regardless of how much tougher they are.

Yep it really does suck. Getting a defenseman or two should have been MB's top priority.

Do people on here not consider playoff performances? Same deal with Briere...folks seemingly ignore his great playoff runs. It's like everyone thinks regular season stats are all that matters.... I think the opposite way.

Eriksson has 9 points in 22 career playoff games.
Horton has 36 points in 43 games. No contest.

Eriksson had 12 goals this season, and wasn't very good.

I keep saying it...but it will be extremely difficult for Habs to make improvements via trade

Because all the players with value, are players the Habs can't really afford to trade.

When Teams negotiate with Habs, who do you think comes up? Gionta? Desharnais? Bourque? Hell no!

It's Subban, Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, Gallagher, Plekanec, Eller, Markov (even in Markov's case, I doubt they could get full value)

You want MB to make a move...expect one of the players in the 2nd group will be traded to accomplish that

I'll let you guys figure out which of those you would prefer moving

This team is mediocre and has very few assets...either be patient or make a bold move

Chill out guys. Its early in the offseason and I think they want to let the dust settle a little before deciding what direction to go.
