Coyle, Granlund, Niederreiter... 2 of the 3 are making the roster as it stands now.

Surprised they took only a 2nd for the Gooch... his streakiness keeps lowering his value.

This is something our team needs. We have a couple physical players in our top 6 (Kane, Ladd)

Whats 20 goals anyways? There's like at least 100 players who score 20 goals every year and there's more who score 10-15 and are good defensively and/or physical.
Now you're trying to downplay his value as it relates to a 2nd round pick.

WAY more speed and both have better shots. I like Wellwood and I'd still bring him back as the 13th forward, but he had no speed or a shot. Neither are super strong along the boards. One of them is going to be playing opposite Kane so they're going to have to learn to dish the puck a bit. Could anyone who knows Seto better give us a quick lowdown?

Seto has played himself off of 2 teams now. Hopefully it works out for him with the Jets. A 2nd is not a bad return though.

Good trade for the Jets. Would have loved him on Pittsburgh for Nish.

Good luck to Seto and Jets fans, I guess. Seto is a good player but cannot play with any consistency. He'll be amazing one game and invisible the next. He was crazy snakebitten last season but started hitting more. He's got wheels but he is incredibly streaky with his scoring.

Honestly, I was never a huge fan of his and I was always under the impression that he reluctantly liked playing in Minnesota. He never said anything bad about Minnesota but he would tweet (when his Twitter account was open) about missing California, excited to be going there for vacation and sad when he left. He pretty obviously wants to go back out West and I'm glad we were able to get something out of him before he did.

No Im not but people calling this trade a larceny should come to their senses. Its only Devin Setoguchi.

Well it does free up top playing time to younger players like Cahrlie, Nino and Jason.

Well Setoguchi doesnt score 20 goals every single year does he? My point is questioning the value of a player who does nothing but score 20 goals, barely I might add.

This move made sense. Signing Cooke on the other hand......

Your act is wearing thin.
Trying to pretend a young guy good for 20 goals a year isn't worth a 2nd round pick 2 years away.... lol.
Thanks for the laugh.

I liked your chirp at NYR and Toronto spending money at free agency a little while ago.. cuz it's not like Minnesota did that last year or anything, right?
Some ppl just can't stand if another team got a good deal... that my friend, is you.
Cheers

Getting only a 2nd makes sense? It's not like we had to move him. If we kept him, he gets a 1st at the deadline easy, if not more.

With Parise and Pominville as our top wingers, and Fletcher guaranteeing a spot to Heatley in the top six, only one of our four big prospects gets a spot in the top six, unless Granlund or Coyle can play 2nd line center, and lets be honest, that's not this year.

Hmm. At first glance, this will seem like a great price for a young, fast, goal-scoring winger on a good contract. Seems like Winnipeg got a solid addition to their lineup.

But Setoguchi can be a detrimental player. He can be great in the right role (the tiny niche), but otherwise, he isn't good anywhere else. He can't play on the bottom-six. He can't play a defensive game.

Then, add in the laziness, immaturity and reported off-ice issues, and Setoguchi looks more like a toxic asset.

The division's like 1/4 of the league now. So, tired notions of inter-divisional trades are history

Think both teams will be happy with this trade.

For the Wild, IMO Seto wasn't a great 2nd line option (consistency issues and a was a product of his linemates) and I don't really like his game for the bottom 6. That being said for a 2nd round pick I don't think Winnipeg will be disappointed. You guys will just have to manage your expectations with him.

I am pleased with this trade!

Far better than over-paying for guys like Clarkson or Horton.

Hopefully, he'll generate some chemistry with Kane.

The only bad thing is it gave the Wild cap space to sign Matt Cooke.
