Great signing. I believe he'll bounce back and be quite serviceable. When Komisarek was healthy, he did have a few stretches of excellent hockey. Wilson's system really ruined his confidence unfortunately. Good player, great teammate. Very happy for him.
Good signing. Many Leafs fans harping on how bad he was, but it was more that he was bad for his cap hit, and for the first two and a bit years. He was rarely played after that, but definitely showed promise this year in the little that he played, but didn't get a chance to stay up after that. Great character guy too, a no brainer at $700K. Glad that he's getting a chance to continue his NHL career after the demotion to the AHL.

This is a zero risk, moderate reward signing. I have no problem with it. I think Komisarek can still be a bottom-pairing NHL defenseman. He fits what Carolina needed. They've been soft for a long time (outside of really only Harrison) and Komisarek brings grit and toughness, another right-handed shot, and leadership which never hurts. Should get PK time on the second unit I'd assume. For that price, it's a fine signing. It doesn't hurt Carolina if he doesn't play well. At worst he sits in the press box and he walks next summer. The NTC/NMC is a non-factor for this type of contract. Just gives the player stability. It has no chance of hurting the team.
Seriously though, it's a good signing for you Caniacs he's a pretty soild 3rd pairing stay at home DFD. Just don't let him make first passes or skate with the puck for too long. You'll definitely want a PMD with him on his pairing or he really will be the most expensive Pylon in the league.
