With Jayes down we have Bollig or carbomb active. Blergh.

Plus the 300k in Khabibulin bonus money I'd waive Carcillo if he's under the penalty number - 900k? Not sure - and you have over a million in room.

Its the regular season..who cares?

Trade deadline add someone with experience and skill. Or send Hayes down and bring up Smith and save 300k.

I could see them waiving Carcillo if he doesn't perform in preseason.

The Chicago Blackhawks would more likely wave Carcillo and sign Mayers to the NHL minimum to acquire salary cap savings.

They'd waive Carcillo and call up Smith. Mayers is done, with Handzus on the roster Mayers serves absolutely no purpose.

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,329,295; BONUSES: $677,500
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $648,205

this is what I see happening, factoring in the Stanley Cup raises, Zeus can go up to 3C if needed but I see him on the 4th line taking faceoffs and then Kruger playing C once play starts. Keep Jayes down have Smith up because of lower cap number and I'd rather have him anyways. You can even fit Bollig on the roster if Q wants to continue his crush on him.

I'm not even sure it's a crush. Like I said, you need someone willing to beat the **** out of an opposing player who makes a run at Kane/Toews/Hossa, etc.

I think Bollig's going to be even more important with Cooke in Minnesota now.

Cooke ducking and turtling while Bollig gets a 7 min penalty doesn't do much for the team

Neither does a pitcher getting five games for retaliating in a beanball war. It still has to happen.

I really don't like the fact that Cooke is in the Hawks division. Worst news of the day in my opinion.

Cooke and Torres in the Western Conference. Two fine upstanding hockey players.

But it doesn't anymore. It's being phased out of the league.

Well, Cooke gets one guy to take out, then he's going to get phased out of the league. I think he's on his last life with Shanahan.

As I post this,capgeek.com still had not included the Rozsival signing and cap hit..but tjey show cap space of $4,145,705 for 21 playets signed..Rozsival 's contract accordong to a ticker I saw on TSN is a 2 yr deal worth a total of $4.4 million...so cap hit of $2.2 million per yr. This drops capspace for 22 signed players to $1,945,705 with Kruger and Leblanc still to sign and without Pirri cpunted in yet.. IF you add those 3 that is 25 players..2 over the limmit..if you waive Carcillo and Bollig then that goves a 23 man roster of 2G 7D and 14F. ..that means to get Kruger and Leblanc and Pirri imto those 14 F, you have to add $1.4 million of capspace back in (Carcillo and Bollig removals) to get capspace of $3,345,710 then deduct from that Pirri's cap hit of $870,000..leaving a total capspace of just $2,475,710 to sign Kruger and Leblanc with zero capspace remaining..So it seems too little remains..meaning they cannot carry 14 F. .meaning they go only 13 F
...mraning either Morin Smith or Hayes or Leblanc is back im Rockford or they do a revolving door among those 4 in that last spot among the 13F unless Kruger and Leblanc sign for a lot less than we thinkng think. In any case they gotta chop Carcillo and Bollig.

Interesting...on TSN (radio), they just mentioned in passing that Ottawa had discussed Hossa with Chicago but the trade didn't really line up, they didn't love his contract, etc...and decided Ryan was a better fit.

Without Rozy/Kruger in yet

Hawks can always waive Carcillo and use another cheap body to generate more cap room

Or trade Brookbank and find a cheaper #7 d-man.

Bowman seems intent on upgrading the roster from within so barring major injury I doubt we see the Hawks being active at the deadline irregardless of whatever cap space they might have. And if there is a major injury the player going on LTIR would give the Hawks extra room to maneuver.

this is with 3 rookies on the roster... and without Leblanc and Jayes. Camp will get interesting for sure
