Fenwick as a metric of individual defensive play while also citing his ability to be on competitive teams.

FWIW, Oduya had FF% beneath .500 in Winnipeg/Atlanta and has never won a cup.

But his #SWAG/60 is off the charts.

Correct...but he won a title in Bangkok during the lockout.
On average his FF% has been at or above said teams TMFF% (as you pointed out exception was 2010-11 Atlanta).

Oduya out of position on Lucic's goal. Shouldn't have gone behind the net when Hjalmarsson was already there.

Yeah not good. One thing I'm noticing here is that Chicago is more worried about the hit vs the puck. That won't work.

Sarge finally down. How many players has teflon made them their highest salary just to fizzle... retire or play for less the rest of their career?? BUY HIGH George!

Suprised Ted doesn't mind eating all this cash.

Sarge, Clymer, Clark, Pettinger, Nylander, Brads, Stecks (tbd but I don't see him eclipsing 1.1M).

Jagr doesn't count for those who know the history.

Edit:add shamo

GMGM will never be fired so good luck with us every winning a Cup. I tired of this crap every year. I won't attend another Caps game until he's gone. He's had how freaking long to get things together with our most talented team? Enough is Enough.

Be prepared for the Georgite's defense of their man.

Defense #1: can't fire George, who would you replace him with??

Defense #2: can't fire George, all his bad decisions were made by Ted!!!

Defense #3: can't fire George, he's been a terrific drafter!!

Defense #4: hey, at least we aren't the Flyers!!

Defense #5: as if You could do better? Surprised you aren't an NHL GM!!

All great points. All irrefutable.

I think he should be made permanent GM. Lifelong Title? That's common in pro sports isn't it? Do nothing for 14 years, yet still be a GM? I'm sure we could find dozens if examples where that's the case?

Oh....we can't???

GMGM may not know much about winning hockey, but at least he's no Wes Unseld.

Did not deny that, in fact I think he sold his soul for the win as a player, only to be cursed as one of the worst GMs ever.

1st round loss in playoffs, dmen were terrible all season, lost 2C, entering into a much tougher division and we did nothing to get better. Simply Awesome. Big love for GMGM

what i see as makfi's biggest failure is his - seemingly - inability to field a team that has what it takes, right now.

imo, he's (been)building a team in which he thinks the league will evolve into a style of play that suits it rather than building a team to suit the league's style of play right now.

his target, if you will, is something he's conjured up off in the distance, but the mark he should be trying to hit is right across the street from him.

the die was cast on that, IIRC, coming out of the 2004 lockout with what mgmt was spewing.

FA were going to be cheaper, and more readily available. failed big time on that one.

the way the league was going to be called dictated a premium put on the following:

mobile puck moving, not physical, D-men, and forwards with finesse - perimeter players. both of those failed to an extent as well. mobile puck moving d-men and fancy pants finesse players are needed and do thrive, but not at the expense of eschewing stud D-men or sandpaper forwards.

when things suddenly dawn on him that his "plan" isnt working, he seems to make knee jerk moves that, in hindsight, really backfire. e.g. 2010 deadline day.

he's also had teddy's checkbook at his disposal since the 07 or 08 season, so 5 or 6 seasons in which he could get just about anybody he saw fit.

George McPhee. Stay, or Go??

Lets just get down to it, and see where everyone stands on this issue. We all have voices here, and some of us are vocal (too vocal???), while others are more muted.

So...speak up, either with a response and comment or just a response.

Should the Caps have a new GM? Is 15 years enough?

And for those that will say "it doesn't matter what we say, George is the GM". I say.....right. I know. But humor this now 5 decades Caps fan (70's thru now).

Simply yes or no.

Edit-- and we all know where I stand on this issue

Vayas con dios, Jorge.

I want to see the roster before the Olympic break. But I am a "go" lean at the moment.
