In the third year of Schenn's contract, he doesn't have to play the 25 minutes in all regular season games to earn a handsome $1.5 million dollar bonus, but to qualify he would have to have an All-Star season, finish among the league's point leaders and win a major award.

These lineups scream of a Laviolette upbeat offensive system without much defence- should be fun to watch but God help the goal-tenders!

Gustafsson - Grossmann

This could be Sweden's fourth defense pairing in Sotji. After:

Karlsson - Hedman
Kronwall - Ericsson
Hjalmarsson - Oduya

Maybe Ekman-Larsson - Edler is an option as well.

Oh my bad. Is he still waiver exempt though? If so, he can still be stashed day 1 while Pronger is not on LTIR

I am sure people have the interview here
http://video.flyers.nhl.com/videocen...262342&lang=en

But Vinny was asked if he would be willing to play wing and favored the right wing position. Maybe in camp he starts on the wing? If Schenn and Couts have improved their faceoff numbers I wouldn't be opposed to this. Maybe even a top line of Hartnell - Giroux - Vinny?

Eh, you maybe put Vin on RW in certain situations, but Vinny at RW is < Vinny at Center. Younger guys have an easier time adjusting to different roles then a older guy who has played one spot pretty much his entire career. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe??? thats the best pairing you mentioned haha

No way either of them make it this time around (gus and grossmann)

If Gus progresses, maybe next time he'll have a shot....grossmann has no chance.

Gus is the only one with a shot especially after the world championships.

problem with that is then Voracek plays out of position on the 2nd line. also, we need Vinny for his faceoffs. he'd be much better suited to be the 2nd line center than 1st line RW. maybe he can play RW on the PP, but not ES.

I've traded both Schenns and Simmonds for Pietrangelo (chuck in some prospects / picks too). That means you need a top 6 winger still so I guess you then trade either Coburn or Grossmann which frees up extra cap for the incoming player. You could then probably do with a more serviceable 3rd pairing D, but I guess that's the price of getting an elite D.

Do I think St. Louis are even going to entertain a trade offer? No.

No to Jagr. I don't think he can hold up for 82 games + playoffs.

I don't know about the 3rd line but he mentioned that if need be, he'd feel very comfortable playing RW.

Agreed, he just keeps burning out towards the end of seasons / in the postseason. If he's willing to take on a lesser role then maybe but don't think he'd be affordable for what he could bring.

Yup and Jagr's going to the highest bidder like he always does.

Look jagr at this point in time is not a 200 ft player. Give him heavy ozone time, pp time, and let him do his thing.

I thought he looked great in the playoffs. He was controlling the puck, creating space for everyone. That play he made on malkin was unreal. No one in the league can do that to malkin, That was the play that won them the game.

We don't need him, but why not? 1 year, good teammate, was a great influence on hartnell and G and vorabeast.

We still need another winger. If not Gagne, then who? I don't feel comfortable having McGinn starting. He should be a fill-in in case of an injury.

I hope one of Laughton, Akeson, Flanagan or Straka earn it in camp. I wouldn't be opposed to Gagne either but only for very cheap.

Have people considered rolling 7 defensemen this year? It gives Gus playing time, and allows us to hold onto mez until the trade deadline at least...
