Keep in mind that Matt Cooke and Max Lapierre are both now in our division. We need Clune and Nystrom to play some rough hockey, imo.

And nystrom isn't putting up fifteen goals, he's done it a total of once his entire career.
Waivers twice lrecently?? Really?? 2 million X 4 years? Sounds like another Goose overpayment. Lots of value that is hard to measure, with little to no scoring.

Thing is we could have gone after cooke or lapierre. Lapierre was signed for only 1.1 a season.

With that said we may have gotten the players we could get tomcome to nashville and at least poile is trying to improve the team and not just waititng to see the young guys step up or not.

The deal keeps getting better. I haven't seen it mentioned but he has a no trade clause.

Stalberg has one as well, but that I am fine with.

The two $3 million years were functionally a no-trade clause anyways.

I was actually OK with this deal until I heard about that. Hopefully it doesn't bite us towards the end.

Meh... Very few takers on that contract I'd guess.

It is a modified NTC which means he'll pick a certain number of teams he won't be traded to. Hornqvist, Stalberg, and Gaustad all have the same kind. Leggy and Fisher are the only 2 with full NTC and NMC that we can't move anywhere without them waiving. It depends on the number of teams he selects and each contract is different. Most of the time they pick bottom dwellers and teams or places the just don't want to go to.

Wait, when was Nystrom put on waivers recently? I know the Wild waived him back in 2011, but I don't see anything more recent than that.

I guess it depends on your definition of recent it was 21 months ago. He cleared waivers and re-entry waivers.

He bounced back big time in Dallas and value skyrocketed.

With a guy like Nystrom, you almost *have* to give him term. He's a mid-career banger who will probably finish his NHL days in Nashville. The four year deal, acts as a safety net for a guy who puts his body on the line like Nystrom, whereas it's often seen as a gamble for finesse players who oft disappear as soon as the contract is signed. Nystrom is gonna be a hell of a pred.
