He's 5'11 205lbs.

Take out his regular season games with the Pens (in which he played with elite players which he won't here) and his offensive output is pretty much that of an average 3rd line forward.
Take in the fact that he's going to be 35 in January and is already a slow skater, I don't see him being a good fit on this team.

Their cap space continues to shrivel.

im not crazy about using Pronger's LTIR space so early.
Im on the fence with this deal TBH. More years Couturier gets to play with crap. Laughton to the AHL I suppose?

Not according to google, either way...an inch? Who cares. I'd bring him in to be a 3rd liner. Think I want to stick him on the top line? Gimme a break. Obviously it's all moot now.

Pens have 19M next year (I'm bumping it 4M) to sign. 7 forwards, 5 dmen and 1 goalie.

Ok

I'm wondering if he walks, because the Bylsma presser (few days after the sweep) made it look like MAF will be there until 2100

Rask gettin paaaaaid

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
Hearing that Rask extension -- although not done yet -- will be in the 8 year/$56M range.

Oof. I thought they were going for a 6m average?

So I got a new cable box in my house which gives my TV all these new features that are totally amazing, new shortcuts, Xfinity has a GOOD UI now, and movies on Comcast now show Rotten Tomatoes scores.

Also a new Modem/Router.

Comcast really won me over for paying Bryzs contract.

New Jersey is putting together a very balanced 4 lines with scoring, grit and 2 way play throughout the lineup.

I think they are in for a big year this year.

Pens cap situation puts a smile on my face. Shipping out Niskanen barely helps. They should have bought out MAF!

Im still scratching my head over the Bruins trading Seguin. I know he was in a huge goal scoring drought but why would they get rid of a 21 year old who has the potential to be a franchise player?

There were accusations of him partying too much. I did my usual "yeah okay" to that, since those rumors are so easily overblown. But...there's also a report that he was kinda weird and wore the same clothes 3 days in a row on the Toronto road trip in the POs, and the management had to sit him down and have a talk with him. Those are pretty specific accusations, and pretty weird, too.

did not hear anything about his fashion choices or lack there of, but to me that seems like a pretty lame reason to trade him. They are pretty odd if true but hardly a justification to trade the kid.

I'll find the article again. Because after digging it up, I closed the tab without pasting it in my post.

It sounds like there were a lot of issues with immaturity.

Another example is that apparently Seguin was under "house-arrest" by the Bruins during the playoffs. They had a security guard outside his room making sure that he didn't get out.

Did the Bruins keep tabs on him early in his career? Seems kind of weird that they waited until his 4th pro season to start complaining about his immaturity level. Boston seems to have a pretty good leadership group. Nobody saw this coming back when he was a rookie or a 2nd year player?
If they wanted to trade the guy because they wanted to improve the team fine. I just think its weak and unnecessary to rip the guy the way they did. just wish the guy luck and move on.

It was mentioned a lot at the start of his second year, that he was fined numerous times as a punishment for missing repeated team meetings, and coming in late all the time, and also scratched once early on. (both in 1st and start of 2nd year)

This was not out in the open until an away game Vs Winnipeg where he again missed a team meeting, and breakfast, and was a healthy scratch again as a punishment I believe, as it had got so ridiculous.

At the time it was said that management did not want to do it, but they had do do something as nothing else was working. Apparently it was not just his tardiness that was the problem, but his attitude towards it... it was never his fault, always had an excuse etc.

The Bruins basically tried to use public humiliation to put him in line as they had tried everything else.

Claude Julien said of him at the time 'Hes missed some meetings. Obviously its not the first time. When its the first time, you give guys a break. But its happened more than a few times. At some point, hes got to hold himself responsible. We felt he could have easily done that. '

Shawn Thorton stated that, 'Several guys, myself included, have taken him aside to talk to him about it.' Apparently on numerous occasions, yet it had continued.

I also read his room-mates were not even bothering trying to get him up after a while, hence the snowball of missed meetings.

After that there was a lull for a while, but then this year coming back from the lockout there was talk that in Switzerland people went round to his house and he had no clean clothes, and that he had just thrown garbage in a corner, he also apparently 'ran out' of glasses and tableware, and just kept buying plastic cutlery as he had never washed and didn't know how the dishwasher worked.

Non of these are cardinal sins... but they are pretty serious when you are being paid millions to perform as a professional sportsman, yet acting like a kid.

I know media should not be trusted, but it was his own team and team-mates in 2011, and the same before he was traded.
