I feel like Hrivik, Miller and maybe Lindberg and Fast have a chance to make the team out of camp. That obviously changes things. I'm not ready to pencil them into the lineup yet, though. Let's see how camp goes.
This. All of it.

Here's how i would do it.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Hagelin- Brassard - Zuccarello-Aasen
Pouliot - Richards - Callahan
Dorsett - Moore - Boyle

I'd say GTFO to Asham despite the fact that hes a pretty good player because he doesnt fit into this "system"

Keep Powe as a backup player.

GTFO Pyatt

Kristo, Fasth, Lindberg & Miller in Hartford getting experience and are callups in case of injury

Of the current personnel, this is the most balanced line combo.

Hard to say, as Hags/Cally won't be in the starting line up, and we have some youngin's who could take some spots.

All seem reasonable given associated assumptions. All i know is that we look bad w/o cally and hags andfairly decent with them. Obviously could use anothet top 6 W who can score but who cant.

You don't keep Pyatt as a 1.5 million extra.

They will either decide he is a part of the lineup, or they will dump him. He will not be an extra forward at that price.

Honestly, with all our young prospects who are competing for spots, I can't imagine we keep Asham or Powe at 1 mil as extras.

I think AV should seriously consider playing Richards at wing. He doesn't have the legs or the brain to play center anymore.

Next year:

Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
Richards-Brassard-Nash
Hagelin-Miller-Zuccarello/Pouliot
Pyatt/Pouliot-Boyle/Moore-Dorsett
Moore/Boyle

is what I think we should go with as our forwards group.

Saying Richards doesnt have a brain to play center is silly. Maybe not the confidence if thats what you mean. The guy doesnt make the NHL without his supreme hockey IQ.

Trying him on the wing isnt a bad idea though.

We have an early-season issue with Callahan and Hagelin out. Penalty killers.

Pouliot doesn't kill penalties. Moore does, but that leaves us with

Stepan
Boyle
Moore

as regular penalty killers, that's it.

I like 2k2's lines for the regular season. But we will need to have a kid up who can kill penalties to start the season.

Dorsett had a fair amount of PK time in Columbus, I believe. He could be an option on a second unit with Moore.

Here is how coach AV would likely deploy his lines this upcoming season.
This is assuming Brad Richards comes back after a summer's worth of conditioning to keep up with his hockey sense for 1C duties (but I'm not holding my breath on that happening ):

Kreider-Richards-Nash
Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan
Boyle-D. Moore-Dorsett

extras: Lindberg, Fasth, Kristo, Powe, Asham

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Stralman
J. Moore-Del Zotto

extras: Eminger, McIlrath, Falk

Lundqvist
Biron

Also you have to factor in how Vigneault rotates his forward trios and defense pairings. Will he roll four lines and 6 D? The previous coach was still stuck in a 1990s mindset of top-6/bottom-6, followed by shortening the bench, with a smattering of shuffled-line roulette in-between. It came to bite the Rangers in the ass vs the Devils in 2012 and then finally had it handed to them by the Bruins in this year's semis.

Nash can PK. Dorsett can as well. Although it is an area of concern with Hagelin/Callahan potentially being out.

Like others have said, Dorsett is an able PKer. Kristo is an option if he fills in for 1 of them or makes the team. If Powe is still around, he may be the other fill in ? Move Boyle or Dorsett up at even strength.

His "supreme hockey IQ" last year consisted of trying to make backhand saucer and blind centering passes to the other team.

Don't even get me started on when he was PPQB.

This is, one of the weakest and thinnest Rangers teams I've seen a long time.

I think a lot of things have to go right in order for this team to do well.

In my opinion, Asham should play.
