Ryan White, Gabriel Dumont, Dustin Tokarski and Robert Mayer qualified

The Canadiens extended qualifying offers on Tuesday night to forwards Ryan White and Gabriel Dumont, as well as goaltenders Dustin Tokarski and Robert Mayer.
May already be posted (I believe White was previously announced) but figured I'd make a thread for people who didn't know yet.

Size. And SOMETIMES very good. That's it. But I will never understand it myself as well. More if everything we heard was true as far as him wanting to leave and Habs make a pitch for him not to? This is weird.

Qualifying him to play backup in the AHL is hardly love. They need someone to play there.

great for those players, and the habs.

I'm very high on Dumont...just love what he brings, and still think there's some untapped offensive instincts.

a 3rd, 4th liner, for sure, but I can see him putting up 20-25 pts in the nhl, with a role on the pk, learning the defensive game.

What does this have to do with Timmins? He didn't draft him. And qualifying him now is not even his decision.....Good try though.

we all like him and he's a quebecois but he's too small, on the 3rd and 4th lines we need BIG GUYS. Teams will get bigger and stronger we have to follow that... you wanna come up in 5 years with a line up full of 5'9'' ? Not me.

I'll take Dustin Tokarski over Mayer any day. In fact, I'd be very confident with Tokarski as Hamilton's number 1 goalie this coming season. Still think he has NHL back-up potential. As for Mayer, the organization seems to love him..

Damn shocked to see White is still in the Habs plan after last season.

Let's hope he plays smarter.

Tokarski, Condon, Delmas and Mayer....Some decisions will need to be made. I guess we could give Wheeling 2 goalies but we need the Pens will give 1 goalie of their own. Probably give a goalie to another ECHL team....

Personally, I'd go with a Tokarski/Condon tandem in Hamilton, but that's just me. I have a feeling Condon will start in the ECHL though.

Cheap backup for AHL is all I can think. Either that or someone with influence still thinks he can make it to the NHL...

I agree on Dumont. Thought he was non prospect until seen him play. Real smart defensively, good face-offs, fiesty

We don't really have space though. We already have 3 goalies.

Tokarski is a bit of an anomaly to me. Memorial cup, WJHC Gold, Calder Cup, he's won at every level and looked good doing it.

So Why did Tampa just toss him aside for Cedric Desjardins? Who Yzerman has to know will never be a full-time NHL'er.

Was it because they drafted Vasilevski? Even then go with Vasilevski/Tokarski.

Anyone know what the scoop is? Opinions?

Only reason Tampa got Cedric was because Boucher (coach at time) coached Cedric before and they had a history together and he wanted him, so Yzerman got him. Tokarski also won AAA National Championship (unbelievably 4). He probably didn't sign with montreal yet just to see what the scoop was with Mayer. Now that Mayer is signed, I would expect Tokarski to be signed very shortly and his contract SHOULD be offered higher & rightly so with 4 championships and much better prospect than Mayer, just my opinion.

Maybe they are not convinced Tokarski will clear waivers, so Mayer is Plan B if that happens.

I hear Condon's only 85% effective though, so maybe not.

Yes lets hope he does play smarter. We need guys like him for energy and protecting the small guys, but he can't put the team in a losing position like he did 2 times last year.
