He's not finished. He produced at a 63 points pace this past season (which is actually better than the one before it). He's not elite anymore, but he'd be our second best winger regardless (maybe third depending on how Galchenyuk progresses).

I'd rather have Penner. I wasn't impressed with Jagr in the playoffs. Penner would also come cheaper. Douglas Murray is also another option.

Then they agree again, before he signs JJ goes to a third team gets more money comes back to Holland and wants more. This time he said no-way. If he can't keep his word don't want him on his team. It's all about money with JJ. In 20+ years as GM, he said JJ was the worst free agent he has ever dealt with.

Holland did say lot of good things about Jagr though. He's good teacher for young players on the team, has patience, spends time with them, good in dressing room overall. If you can get another year out of him he's not bad on team. Just hard man on finances.
Once he is signed he cant go to one team another looking for more money, he owes nothing to Detroit and if there is no contract I dont see why he wouldnt ask for more if other teams offer more

edit: but I get what you mean, greeeedy Jagr lol

If MB does this, it's official, he's a loser. Three mind-boggling signings.

How is Parros "mind boggling"??...damn near every frequent poster in this area has been crying for years for the Habs to get a legitimate heavyweight...now we have one...problem solved...not to mention I can see ol' George getting back into the "swing" of things now that he'll have a racious crowd cheering him on while he drops Leafs/Bruins...

1 year of Jagr? I mean, I'm not too hyped about the move 'cause I'd rather upgrade our D or even our 4 line, but 1 year contracts do not hurt anyone in the nhl.

I'd rather have Penner too but I'm skeptical he's cheaper. He'd probably want more years, and if we can get Jagr on a one year deal it's better than having pancakes long term.

Penner would be useless. Slow, lazy 4th line grinder who kinda show up for playoff.

Our need is top 9 size and and top 4 blue liner. Enough with spending cap space on player who don't fill needs.

The UFA pool is pretty much empty at this point. Fristic would be an option. Solid no 4-5 d-man, physical.

Unless we drop some salary by getting rid of DD or Gionta, giving Jagr money WOULD hurt our team. It would means less $$ to adress true needs, like a solid top-4 d-man on some grit on our top 9.

I would be totally in favor of getting rid of DD to make some space in our top 9, and agree than Jagr could bring some different into our group of foward, but I rather have Gionta than Jagr, as much as captain chest sniper have been making me swear this season. Gio is still a 20-25 goals scorer, solid 2-way player and faster than Jagr.

Jagr is only a good deal for 3 millions or less, 1 year and we need to keep Plekanec.
Without these 3 conditions, I feel we won't get the result we want.

As disgusting as it sounds, I would feel more confortable putting Armstrong on the ice than Parros. Colby actually look like a NHL-whorty player next to George. Let's hope Parros still have some fuel in the tank and will hammer some face up next season for our entertainment.

If the team can really roll four lines Parros is useless. I haven't seen the habs do that in years, maybe since '93. There is some question of playing a 7th D-man, but in the last couple of decades there has always been a player or two on the fourth line with limited impact, might as well dress Parros and double shift some of the better players even if he ends up just showing his mustache from the bench. He'll be there when they need him...

Not one player in particular.

We need to be grittier across the board. It's just that Parros is rather side-show 5th line goon.
