You know how on NHL 12, 13, whatever, you'll draft that guy who has oodles of potential in "athleticism" and nothing else?

Well, that's what Stalberg is. He's pretty overrated.

I've decided that this contract is one of the worst signed yesterday. Chicago was very much right in ditching him.

And those people were proven wrong as Stalberg far outproduced his contract and was a steal at 800k.

Of course regular season doesn't matter at all except if you are Dave Bolland or someone else that you hypocritically throw under the bus 100x a day to make your opinion known to every single person who ever reads a Hawks thread.

How can Stalberg just be paid 0.5 million more than Nystrom? Astonishing.

They'll be even closer when they sign Seth Jones to his ELC and sign Spaling. Should be within 2 million of the ceiling, if not closer.

Well done! He's wrong so often that if he's for it, you would be wise to go the other way.

Stalberg is not overated it just didn't work out for him in Chicago. Coach Q did not like Stalberg for whatever reason so he doomed him to 3rd and 4th line roles with limited minutes where he could not succeed. I think with the right team in a top 6 role Stalberg can return to a 20+ goal scorer. Hopefully it works out for him in Nashville. I just wish he could have gone to a team I cared more for.

I don't think there's another team other than Nashville that will give him those top six minutes. Clearly, he chose Nashville because of their lack of offensive depth.

good 3rd liner.. great speed and good size. Hawks will miss him in the bottom 6

Stalberg did nothing to deserve those minutes...

he got PP time and did not produce. It has never mattered who his linemates were. He produced always at the same pace against the weaker teams.

He was never misused, he just isn't more than a speedster with no hockey sense.
He'll do fine with the Preds who will need his speed for the breakaway chances they will get. He fits their style of playing more than the Hawks Puck Possession style. That's why he will succeed with the Preds.
