To me, as much as I love Pancakes in the playoffs I have moved on. Sadly I think Penns is replaceable. If he ends up staying I wouldn't give him more than $1.5 for a 1yr deal and even then would rather we bring up Andy Andy and or Kozy for the playoffs to take his spot.
Thanks, well at least that would fit our cap budget and increase competition in training camp. I'm ready to turn the page on the Penner chapter as well.

If Holloway is agreeable to 1 year at $1M or slightly less I think it's ok, but knowing Dean he likely doesn't want Holloway making more than the guys that stuck it out in the Kings' system.

I feel like this whole Holloway situation is impeding Dean's decision to acquire a LW scorer elsewhere. At least he's thinking things over a bit but time's running out...

The Kings flat out don't have the cap space to acquire a LW scorer that is readily identifiable. They have around $5M left in cap space to sign 4 more players for the 23 man roster.

The answer at LW is going to have to come from within the organization.

If we do acquire Butt Hollow Way then that means that we are gonna lose one of our 100 defense man.

Good question - and that's why it makes sense for Bud and his agent to demand that he be waived to go to Sweden with the hope that some other NHL club picks him up after Bud agrees to Dean's offer of less than $1M. This way, he can have another chance to make another teams NHL roster at a reasonable contract.

It'd be funny if no other NHL team made him a better offer than Dean.

I agree, even thou Bud turned down several 1.5 m dollar contracts to play in the khl if dl was to offer in the 750.-850th dollar range you would have a deal fair to both sides. He must know he isnt going to sign for less than he makes in Sweden.

I am a little shocked Bud has not signed with another NHL team.

I would have thought another NHL team, by now would have met his demands.

Why would a team meet the demands of a player whose never played in the NHL?
Most likely whatever DL offered was reasonable for a player with no NHL experience, as most other GM's would

If Holloway is serious about his intent on establishing an NHL career, than gaining experience with a good team should be much more important than his bank account.

Signing in LA for 8 years at the league minimum while donating half his salary yearly to charity. He then should score 400 goals a year, add 1200 assists, win the Vezina, be captain of the entire division, aaaaaaaand be Superman. At least that's what I think most people expect.

Matt Moulson was only able to get a 2-way deal from the Islanders for $575,000/$105,000 and that was after playing in 29 NHL games. I believe Matt was only 25 too.

I would be surprised if anyone other than LA gives Bud a 1-way deal or an out-clause.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see him sign with some NHL club, he's probably waiting until the last minute to try to get a better offer from some desperate club. He's got until July 15th.

Just FTR, but Bud Holloway is not listed among LA's UFAs on the official NHL.com list. The list's not all-inclusive (For instance, they don't have a lot of the guys bought out in the last few days, such as Eric Belanger), but it's pretty good for RFAs playing overseas whose contracts have lapsed into UFA (Stephen Dixon, Martin Lojek etc.) and does NOT include RFAs from last year who played in Europe. So, going by those standards, it would seem to indicate that Holloway MIGHT still be a RFA.

I don't know the wording of the new CBA, but I'm wondering if Holloway bolting for Sweden as opposed to playing minor pro in the States had anything to do with him not being eligible to become a Group VI UFA.

Unless something changed in the new CBA which hasn't leaked out yet, I don't see how.

Not much left for him to accomplish in Sweden. Best move for Bud is to sign an NHL deal.

Probably signs something similar to what Brunner got in 2012 - 1 year, $900k, 2-way deal.

At this point it's going to come down to him signing at the deadline or nothing.

How about this - short, sweet, simple, clear, no bs.

1 year
1 way
$1,000,000 straight salary and cap hit - NO bonuses or options or anything else
NO out clause of any kind to return to Sweden
NO clause of any kind preventing team from sending player to minors

Now, BH can play in NHL, do well, both sides happy, both sides go from there regarding 2014-15 free agency status/contract situation.

Or, if BH doesn't do well and Kings want to send him to Manchester he can ...
Report and the contract is honored by both sides (he plays in AHL and is paid his NHL salary, but his cap hit is removed for the Kings) ... or ...
Not report and do whatever else he wants to do ... but ...

The question is - if a player bolts his team during the season and doesn't honor his contract what would happen regarding the salary cap for the team? If it was a 'suspended without pay' and 'salary comes off of cap' situation, than the Kings would be protected.

Just a thought. Both sides give in some rather than either side having all the "outs" in their favor.
