Zuc close to signing 2/3yr deal like 2 weeks ago?! I suppose any deal the two sides might have settled on is pending the more important McStepline contracts. It'll be flood gates opening, I'd reckon.

Brooksie also said he doesn't get his lunch money stolen ever. Any RFA worth offering an offer sheet can be offered an offer sheet. Stepan and McDonagh needs to sign the offered offer sheet. I don't think either one of them has intentions of forcing Glen's hands and make him make a trade or disrupt the team's plan and roster going forward for their monetary gains. At worse, they will figure out a shorter deal worth a bit more and allows for flexibility and some circumvention.

It's a business, If it was the other way around management would do it in a heart beat. UFA are getting an unbelievable amount of money. Don't be surprised a team doesn't send a offer sheet tremendously over priced.

Remember McD has already realized the business aspect of hockey. He was traded from Montreal the team that drafted and developed him. Thats usually a wake up call for a young player.

At this stage of the negotiation, close to a deal, he's not going to sign an offer sheet unless it's really loaded and Glen is low balling. I don't think Glen is low balling Ryan and if they are coming close, he's definitely within McD's range of acceptable offers. An offer sheet at most is just a negotiation leverage at this stage for McD.

i never believe agents. I don't see why he isn't signed at this point. Sather knows what he has to work with at this point. the longer this goes on the stronger of a possibility of McD getting an offer sheet

IE; Islanders

Pietrangelo and Bogosian aren't signed, either...

it is a negotiation, some take longer than others and although I'm assuming here, I'd bet a LOT more goes into a pro contract during the negotiation than just money and term. Some things are more important to some players than others and for all we know they may have agreed on money and a term and are sorting out small things in the contract. So just be patient

Re Step and McD, it becomes a complex situation with a smaller pot of money and several RFAs.

If we signed everyone cept say Step, we really become vulnerable to an offer sheet. With 11m in cap space, we can always match anything.

First of all per Cap Geek there is $11,255,853 of Cap Space on 7/7/13. Add the $1,900,000 when Powe and Asham are buried in the minors, and that's $13,155,853. Plus another $600,000 when Aaron Johnson is buried in the minors and that's $13,755,853.00. Per Brooksie, McD will get 4.5-5M per. Split it and its 4.75M Step will get between 3.5-4M. Split it and its 3.75. Hags will get 2.5-3M which I don't believe but will budget 2.75M. That's 12.25M. That leaves approx. 1.5M to get Zucc in. Kinda tight. Leaves little wiggle space unless Sather jettisons some off the team. Someone else has to go.

Neither Step nor Hags will get that much.

The Rangers’ bargain aisle signings of free agents Dominic Moore and Aaron Johnson added depth to a roster that needs it, but management likely perceives the addition of Benoit Pouliot as more meaningful than that, perhaps signaling the end of Mats Zuccarello’s tour of Broadway.

They also can send powe and Asham to Hartford when season starts and take a minimal cap hit... 13m that would give them. Stepan 4m, McD 5m, hags 2m, Zucc 1.25m, who cares about Falk if he has to be the casuality

I doubt it affects Zuc but I wont be shocked if hes in a trade package for a top 6 winger at the same time

What top 6 forward could Zuccarello be in a package for that costs about $2M? The Rangers cant take any salary back, you can thank the Richards decision for that.

It would have to be a prospect, but that wouldn't help them this season either

Not saying it will but it's possible del zotto + Zucc. That's about 4m, can that get a top 6 winger? Maybe sather says to get Dz u have to take Asham or powe or pyatt for cap reasons etc

We go through this every year with people freaking out over RFA's and offer sheets and so far no one has signed an offer sheet

Also that bit about Zucarello and Pouliot sounds more like Brooks speculation than anything else. Perhaps the organization does see Pouliot as potentially more than a bottom line guy and that could create some competition in the lineup, but doens't mean Zucc is on the way out either

Agreed, Rangers will be tight to the cap, but will fit everyone in I'm not worried
