He was the easiest guy to move. Still a reliable player and seemed well liked.
Handled the 8 dman carousel as well as anybody in his position.

We're happy to have the extra roster spot and the cap space, but I think most of us are also genuinely happy to see him in a place where he's played well, has enjoyed and can see better ice time.

One last effort at an attempt to save Myers.

Perfect. Boychuk is beer-league level but I don't care. Pure dump for NJ. Opens up a roster spot and saves salary.

tallinder still has game left in him. this made sense for both sides, he'll go back with myers I imagine. boychuk will never amount to anything at all so just a pure dump.

Good trade for both sides.
The Devils dump a player they dint really want or need and Buffalo get back a guy who showed chemistry with maybe their most important player.

We can probably get a 2nd round pick for him at the deadline if he stays healthy.
I doubt teams would give a 2nd rounder up for him.. maybe a 3rd/4th depending on his season.

Aside from having troubles staying healthy, he's been pretty inconsistent with his on-ice play. Some days he looks like a bonafide second pairing defenseman.. other days he looks like AHL fodder.

What? What is Clarkson 2.0 and why would Tallinder suddenly turn into a power forward?

I think lou did henrik a favor by finding a deal. didn't want to put him in the situation of sitting a lot like last season, while also wanting to clear the glute of nhl dmen as well as some cap space. that **** doesn't go unnoticed by players.

That's incredible how low the prices are on serviceable NHLers on teams that need a cap dump. Is Tallinder 2nd pair or 3rd pair material? Was he regressing?

Great for Devils

I don't see any upside for Sabres unless Tallinder can get Myers to somehow turn his career around

If healthy! 25 games last season and 39 the year before. He's shown signs of decline and his health is a real concern.

Someone was a goner out of this group. Tallinder just had the easiest contract to move. No NTC, easy to absorb cap hit.

Id much rather have seen Volchenkov moved, but thats a lot harder of a contract to offload.

I m quite happy with the cap dump
1. Money for Henrique and Josefson resigning
2. More ice time and regular for Larsson

Buffalo has the strangest hodge podge collection of defensemen I've ever seen.

Great move for us, no risk as we got hank for pretty much free and he could get Myers back on track

I'm a bit disappointed. I would have liked to hold on to Tally, but he was probably our most tradeable d-man that was expendable, and yet the return is basically non-existent. I know it's a pure cap dump, but it's still a shame. Oh well.
