Actually...

If I was convinced he's turned his work ethic around, McGinn + decent pick would be a nice starting place IMO. Saves the blues some cap, and gives us a natural RW to put with Lando-Stastny.

ROR-Dutch-PAP
Lando-Staz-STEWART
Tangs-MacK-Downie

Would love this top 9!

I do think a deal involving plekanec and steward would make a lot of sense. They hold similar value and maybe a package could be made to sweeten the deal

Not really even the slightest interest in McGinn......Stewart would at least cost a 1st or a top center prospect.

I'd trade our 1st for him no problem. Flip McGinn elsewhere.

I wouldn't trade Jamie straight up for that floater, kids's given his best every time he steped on the ice unlike Stewart. I'm sure someone will be dumb enough to offer something of value for the guy and they'll regret it really soon.

Reading through the Blues boards and their GDT's during the later parts of the season and during the playoffs and seeing how they're in "love" with Stewart was funny as hell.

One good thing about Stewart is he's really good friends with a center currently on Colorado and is a UFA next season. Maybe Stewart can help convince this player to come back to his hometown.

Not only was he the leading scorer last year, but he can be extremely valuable off the ice over the next coming year.

I've seen every single one of his games when he was an Av, he has all the talent in the world, too bad he plays like he doesn't care half the time. And this past season was a prime example of this, he started off white hot and then closed out the season scoring 3 goals in the last 22 games IIRC and was completely invisible in the playoffs.

Was thinking the reverse of that as well.

-With Roy behind the bench, (who I think would keep Stewart "motivated") and paired with Stastny again I could see a very good piece added to the core who would likely help the Avs maintain Stastny at a discounted price.

-With PL out of the position of running the team, any hard feelings toward the organization that traded him should be minimal.

-Playing with Stastny and Landeskog would also ease a lot of defensive responsibility since the other two are very solid at both ends.

Who's more likely to get traded? Berglund or Stewart?

Oilers offer 1st round pick in 2014, 2nd in 2014, and (A level) propect Marincin for Chris Stewart.

For a team looking to compete now, how does this do anything for St. Louis? Stewart + Berglund for RNH.

The only way Stewart would be traded is for picks and prospects (unless he is being packaged with other players to clear cap space).

We would only be trading him to clear cap room at this point.

Well I figure with Stewart and Petriangelo being RFA's and the cap being tight you'd be open to trading someone. If MacT wanted to play dirty (or any GM for that matter) could offer ridiculous offer sheets on both players.

I would say Stewart, only because our center depth isn't the greatest. Berglund is our 3rd line center who can fill in to the top 6 for the inevitable Roy injury.

Come on, you know very well that's never going to happen.

Roy doesnt have injury history.

0304 49 (call up)
0506 70 (he got called up early in the season)
0607 75
0708 78
0809 82
0910 80
1011 35
1112 80
1213 42

His only injury was the freaking injury he got in December 2010 (I was at that game). He was lost for the rest of the season except playing 1 playoff game (game 7).

The Blues would match Pietro and let you give us your picks while having to pay Stewart ridiculous money. That would just be a bad hockey decision.

He's a great player, he brings a lot to the game, he has his deficiencies, at this point of his career he could be traded for an underwhelming package, i wouldn't be surprised. In the end i'm pretty sure he's gonna stay with the Blues cause they are going to do some minor trades to fit him under the cap.

It's not like they could get both anyway. You can't use the same picks twice.

Can't offer sheet both at once as both would require next years first.......

Trust me we aren't trading Johnson.

I've been one of the biggest Stewart critics since before he left Colorado, but with a new regime (especially Roy behind the bench) I would give a great deal of consideration to bringing him back depending on the cost to obtain him and the price to sign him.

We'll trade Stewart for something based around Colorado's first if they promise not to improve the defence...

the 1st isn't awful, but it depends on Stewart's $ demands too. if he'd sign at around 4x4 it may be worth it.

Would allow us to package McGinn and some prospects for that defensive upgrade we won't be making

Just hard to commit to not knowing if Roy would be able to get Stewart to be consistently engaged over the year, but Avs really have missed that "power" presence he used to bring (when he felt like it anyway).
