Listen to you. Like that was an actual cheap shot or had anything to do with knowing he wouldn't stand a chance against an insane Boulton. Your standards are skewed, my friend.

I like a guy who plays tough as much (probably more) than anyone, but if a player has to look to see who the other guy is before reacting.... 'nuff said.
It was the holdouts and then the terribly inconsistent performance that you hate to see after someone holds out of camp. He never took it to the next level and he still hasnt. Mara may not be lighting the world on fire right now but he is clearly better than Boynton was for us.

Boynton has an assist in the first period so far... for those wondering.

You'll get a wide range of responses here. I think he's doing well considering what a horrible start the team as a whole is off to. One thing that has surprised me is the effort he puts in defensively -- he's been banged up a few times blocking shots. I think it was the Isles game he blocked 5 shots. Hopefully he'll get more PP time and start contributing more offensively.

Please refresh my memory on the Mccabe fight.
Boynton never fought McCabe. He went after Belfour when Joe was hit from behind resulting in a fight with Berehowsky. And his fight last year was not against Mair but against Gaustad. I never saw the incident where he backed away from Boulton, but I did see Nick answer the bell to Worrell a few years ago. And I think everyone here would agree that Worrell was a much better fighter than Eric Boulton.

Oh quit whining you know I am just kidding around. Its not like you havent hijacked the Center Ice thread as the de facto Boynton love fest thread. You do know Phoenix has its own board, right?

even if he did spear ribeiro, how can it be possible that "ribs" wasn't deserving?

I see. I guess that explains why I didn't see it. Not surprisingly, it NEVER happened.

Boyton = Mara [however Mara has played 3 less games]

Boyton
GP = 10
G = 0
A = 2
+/- = -5

Mara
GP = 7
G = 0
A = 1
+/- = -5

Perhaps if Lewis used him on the PowerPlay, Mara would have more points.

Thank you everybody. This was one of the more entertaining threads lately.

DC, man, I disagree with most of what you say, but you are like the Terminator...you just never stop

I was a big Boynton supporter, and loved most of the intangibles he brought. He stuck up for teammates, wanted to win, faced the reporters after every game no matter what the result was.

Then he would go out on the ice and do something incredibly stupid, whether it was a bad defensive play, or take a stupid penalty.

I think this may be the way Boynton is for the rest of his career? If he was able to give you the good stuff, but be smarter on the ice, he would be invaluable to any team. However, you have to take the good with the bad with Nick.

I do agree with the posters that said they think Mara has been underutilized so far. That will change with Stuart out 2-4 weeks. Personally, I think Mara is better for the B's and his stats will reflect that once he gets more PP time.

Trying to compare him and Boynton is like apples/oranges...two totally different animals.

No one, and I mean NO ONE, broke a stick over the cross bar with more intensity after getting burned than Boynts! I love that fire!

I forgot to mention that...wonder if he got a special stick endorsement deal? Slip the cameraman a few bucks to zoom in on the brand label every time he snapped one?

He didn't go after Belfour, he went after McCabe at the side of the net. McCabe showed little interest in going during the ensuing scrum and Nick took the next available taker.
