Wow This team is good

Will we carry Carcillo and Bollig all year? They have the same cap hit in AHL and NHL.

Guessing on the last piece, Kruger. I hope he is back. Elite 4C in this league. If Fillipula is 5M wow.

How much will Smith, Morin and Pirri contribute will go a long way to telling us how good we are.

This would be my bottom 6.

Saad, Kruger, Shaw
Morin, Handzus, Smith

-Really really like Shaw on the wing. Rather see him first in on the forecheck and finishing checks in the corner rather than worrying about centerman's defensive responsibility.

-Would like to see if Kruger can handle #3 center.

-Two rookies on the same line isn't ideal. But it's the 4th line, let's see what the kids can do though.

I'd rather see Shaw 3rd line center and put saad and morin on his wings. That's a skilled, fast 3rd line

- Beach needs to clear waivers to be sent down
- Team qualified him this summer
- why would they qualify him to play in the AHL?

Yeah, that'd be a pretty sweet line. Technically Saad and Morin are both LW. Especially Morin because he really likes shooting on the off wing. But I'm sure these young guys will line up wherever they put them!

Either way, with the way Q likes to mix and match I think we'll all get to see our ideal setup at some point during the year.

What's the cut off for players counting against the cap? I doubt Bollig would count but would Carcillo?

Did not know it was that high. Figured they'd have to at the very least find a taker for a guy like Carcillo for 'future considerations'. Good find.

Carcillo and Brookbank will be moved at some point. Hawks will play out the preseason, see what kids stand up, and if Morin, Jayes, Smith, LeBlanc, Pirri, Stanton, Clendening, and JOHNS (HAHAHA) etc do not set the world on fire then you keep Brookbank and Carcillo. But if some of these kids have great showings, good bye Carcillo and Brookbank...no reason to keep them around if the kids step up.

he is not going to make the roster. They want to see if he finally can bring it together? Last chance for Beach or he'll end up in europe pretty soon

I have no problem with keeping Brookbank on the roster. I'm not sold on the dmen prospects yet and there are going to be plenty of injuries. We'll see how the year goes, no need to bury/waive Carcillo or Bollig for a few months.

It was my understanding that if a player with a NHL contract is sent down, the team includes ONLY the cap hit that exceeds $925K (which is actually based on the league minimum salary + $350K so it changes as the minimum salary changes). So if a player makes less than $925K, there is no cap hit, and if a player makes $1M, the teams keeps $75K of cap hit ($1M - $925K = $75K).

I thought when Bickell signed a 2 way that he was paid the same in both places.

Also, capgeek shows Carcillo as this year AHL =NHL when other years showed cap hit $0.

So there must be something for capgeek to show the cap hit same in both N and AHL.

Bollig and Carcillo seem redundant.

Bickell signed a three year deal at minimum because the million and half was guaranteed. It was a one way contract.

just to add: His roster spot was guaranteed because of his cheap contract too

And this team sans CarBomb is even better...

If any kid of Pirri Morin and Smith can't cut it, Rockford shuttle and get used to Grayhound since someone else will come from Rockford, Danault?

So this team is better and we just see what kids are ready. Even more cap space than I had in the OP.

We can always recall a kid for a home game when Zeus isn't going to play etc and that won't be a full cap hit to carry a kid for the day. So Stan is doing a great job.

Have to say, depending on how much Q neuters them (and the kids who make it), this might be the grittiest team the Hawks have iced in years. Might see less of those "Hawks don't hit enough" threads this season. (you know they're comming... even after the cup win )
