Love the idea but there is no fit. He would be great for the PP but we already have 5 capable wingers for the PP. We need to save our money to tie up Kadri, Franson & Gunnarsson. Trade Liles, then this might work on a one year deal.
Toronto will be in a better situation to make this kind of move next season once we get Kessel, Phaneuf, Kulemin, McClement, Gardiner and Reimer re-upped. Honestly, I hope Nonis has a plan, because Kadri, Franson, Gunnarsson, Colborne & Fraser are going to take us too the cap. $25 million will be tight if we plan to keep all 6 players.
Leafs have $10 left to sign Kadri, Franson, Gunnarsson, Colborne & Fraser and promote a few Marlies to complete the current roster.
Man we have some serious issues if we only have 10 bucks left for our cap. On the topic of jagr, why even bother? I would much rather promote from with in to fill that hole and give one of our young guys some valuable experience playing with the big club.
I wanted jagr two years ago when we had room and needed to give prospects some time to mature. Figured he could help our young core. Now it's too late. We have our playoff experience and jagr doesn't fit with the additions nonis has made.
Jagr is a legendary player but he really doesn't fit into our team at all. We don't have a line that's slow enough for him to keep up with. Kessel line is too fast for him, Kadri line is too fast for him, and even the Bolland line will be too fast for him. If we had a big playmaking (offensive) centerman that's not known for his speed, I'd consider putting Jagr on with him.....but we don't have Sundin anymore so it doesn't work well.
Thanks, now I'll be drooling thinking about Jagr playing with Sundin for the rest of the day
