What happens if two teammates drop the gloves?

Does it result in both getting 5 minute majors, resulting in a 5-minute 5-on-3?

Personally, I think they would both get 10-minute misconducts and no power play.

Depends on the fight.

If it's a KO, then the team gets DQ'ed.

Their conversation in the penalty box would be fun to listen to.

Probably delay of game penalties and misconducts.

I could have swore this happened awhile back in a junior league...maybe WHL or BCJHL. However, upon searching Google I am coming up with nothing.

Maybe not a full-blown fight, but definitely an on-ice altercation with a teammate during a game...if anyone can find details I would appreciate it!

Lol. That'd be funny, and their own team should suspend both players 3 games for being so dumb.

This happened in practice one time for montreal. Desharnais got a ridiculous contract and subban got a Norris trophy

Here is the fighting rule, with key portions highlighted:

Quote:
46.1 Fighting – A fight shall be deemed to have occurred when at least one player (or goalkeeper) punches or attempts to punch an opponent repeatedly or when two players wrestle in such a manner as to make it difficult for the Linesmen to intervene and separate the combatants.

The Referees are provided very wide latitude in the penalties with which they may impose under this rule. This is done intentionally to enable them to differentiate between the obvious degrees of responsibility of the participants either for starting the fighting or persisting in continuing the fighting. The discretion provided should be exercised realistically.
First bolded -- clearly indicates that a fight (for the purpose of giving penalties) is something that occurs between two opponents, not two teammates.

Second bolded -- less specific about whether it could occur between teammates, but it's still part of the same sentence so we can presume that by "players" it means "opponents", following on the previous thought.

So, it's a fair guess that the rulebook does not consider an altercation between teammates to be "fighting" in the official sense.

Third bolded -- The referee can basically give them whatever penalty he wants. In this case it would probably be Delay of Game penalties since, at some level, you're not allowed to just stop the game in order to hash out your personal issues on the ice. Also, Delay penalties seem to have a mild shaming effect that says "WTF are you doing?".

Best thing to do imho give a delay of game penalty for airing crap out on the other team's time.
Give one guy a 10 min misconduct and the other a game misconduct to get them seperated (one guy sits in the box for 12 mins + whistle; while the other goes home).

Would be cool to see Kassian beating up Bieksa.... the closest i've seen to a teammate altercation was Rick Rypien shoving Henrik Sedin before grabbing the fan

Priceless. They won't ever stop fighting then.

Seen it in an organized league, but at a much, much lower level of course. It was some years ago now, but a 2 minute minor was assessed for, IIRC, delay of game.

Cody Bass gave a shove to Aaron Johnson in a Blue Jackets game a couple years back

Yeah even if they did fight, where would you send them?

To the penalty box? They'd fight there!

Game misconduct? They'd fight in the showers!

I've seen it happen at low levels; teams losing one player started griping at his teammates, one takes exception.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Subban involved in such a thing given his antics in the playoff final game especially if he had a guy like Emery on his team.

Fotiu was a lot tougher. I'm guessing their teammates separated them.

There was an altercation in training camp between a Dallas Star and a prospect. Funny, I remember the prospect's name, Brett Draney, but not the Star who I believe was a big time player

Bill Guerin.
A friend actually just brought this up a couple weeks ago while we were listening to a sports radio show where Guerin was a guest.
Guerin took a hit from Draney that he didn't like and retaliated by giving him a two hander upside the head.

Goodness gracious... people need to learn about Subban before spewing such ridiculous crap. I have co-workers who are angry at me, even though I'm easily one of the best employees at my job. Want to know why? Because I get annoyed by the fact that they do not work hard; i.e. taking 10 minute smoke breaks every hour or just sitting down/avoiding work while I work hard to make up for them. As such, I've had minor confrontations with co-workers. Does this mean I'm a bad employee? Hell no. I've had two jobs in my life, and I've been one of the best employees that my management has ever had (according to both sets of management). That does not mean I'm not well liked though. The same goes for Subban. He's not a problem in the slightest. He's a great leader, however much people who just parrot others' opinions that he's locker room cancer.

I'm pretty sure they would be in some serious **** from their coach and team. Time and a place for that...and in the middle of a game is not either of those.

Last week, the two brothers on my team got into a shoving match in warmups. That was pretty funny but nothing came of it

Delay of game penalties. Followed by both getting kicked off the team.
