Preds sign G Carter Hutton

There's a new goalie in town and his name is Carter Hutton, from the Hawks organ-eye-zation.

http://predators.nhl.com/club/news.h...id=rss-release

Should be in the mix as the backup, or the starter in Moo-waukee

Think we have the same goalie depth problem we had going in. AHL signing.

Korn sounded like he liked him.

So did the Milwaukee Admirals who were consulted on making the selection and picked Hutton.

This is really a training camp battle between Hutton and Hellberg for the No. 2 and No. 3 spots behind Rinne. Hutton will start there, but if he falters, Hellberg will be immediately brought up to replace him.

The belief is Hellberg is on the verge of being ready and just needs a little more experience starting before sitting behind Pekka...

And when Hellberg comes up we can go back to having the tallest goalie tandem in the league.

He was pretty good at stopping the Ad's shots. So they were happy to get him. If you can't beat em', sign em'.

A hawks fan on nhl.com was none too thrilled that we got him. He was thinking that was their long term solution being groomed.

Milwaukee, pronounced Mah-wau-kee by the locals. They drop the "L" and change the I to an A. I have lived here for 30 years.

Hutton is a good goalie. You can't have too many of them in your organization.

Just for the record - the guy is 27 years old and has one game of NHL experience. Chicago need a backup goalie and did not retain him - signing 40 year old Khabibulin instead. We need an NHL ready back-up goalie.

I thought you might give us the Alice Cooper in Wayne's World definition.

where is the rest of the story? What if Chicago told him they wanted him for the AHL, and he wanted to test free agency? It works both ways.

Out of all our coaches I trust Mitch Korn the most. If he likes the guy then I'll bet he will do just fine. Peks play almost every night anyways especially when the season isn't condensed and you have a lot less back to backs.

Sorry. I just saw Alice in "Dark Shadows". WW is gettin' old.

People in Milwaukee frequently drop an ending "g", especially if they are southsiders.

Carter Hutton was 13-4 against Milwaukee. That is a good reason to sign him.

That's actually a huge concern. This coming season is an olympic year. Schedule will be VERY condensed and of course Pekka will play in the olys too. We must have a solid backup which is why this signing bothers me a bit, but as was said above we must trust in Korn

The organization (including Korn) has made mistakes at Goalie... Finley, Pickard, and most recently, Mason.

I say bring in Hellberg and just have him lay butterfly style in the crease. Have you seen that monster lately?!

Kudos for the Wayne's World reference, my mind went there too.

Are we sure about that. Finalnd has options at G, particularly Rask.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up on Carter, I grew up playing against him and know him very well. He never played AAA and only really started to blossom near the end of his Junior A career once he worked more on his conditioning. He is an awesome guy, hard worker, who all his teammates absolutely love. He'd be a great guy to have behind a workhorse in Rinne but if not he'll help your AHL team a lot.
