Because the oilers farm system is so full of dmen they can leave Laleggia to develop in the NCAA before signing him to a contract. They have 1-2 more years for him to develop and gain experience and for them to decide if they want to sign him.
Wow, I didn't know any of that, thanks

No problem. There are a lot of people on this board that are LaLeggia fans. Hopefully at some point he can score in the NHL like he has in the BCHL and the NCAA. I'm sure his buddy RNH would love to have him join him on the Oilers.

Hopefully! If the draft goes well this year then we should be a force to be reckoned with soon

Not sure where to post this, but if anybody remembers the 3rd Slovak tower named Martin Bobos (6'6"), he was just drafted by PG in the import draft, I will be going to as many games as I can this year to watch him to see if we should maybe take another shot at a tall Slovak named Martin.

I looked for his name during NHL draft... looks like he went undrafted... wonder what went wrong.. I expected Oilers to use the 7th rounder on him just because they like to scout that area... OilKings passed on their 2nd import pick... was Bobos gone by then?

He was taken in the 2nd round by the Cougars, 64th overall, he's 6'6", 223 lbs, they also took another Slovak who played for Kosice as well (David Soltes). Bobos also played for Kosice, and had 1g, 6a in 34 gp last year. The Cougars are saying that they hope he turns out like Chara, who also played here and took a bit of time to adjust to the N.A. ice and game.

Via Dan Tencer (Twitter) :

Chatting with one of the prospects today about what he's noticed about Edmonton. "An awful lot of gas stations" he said. So there's that.

Well.... I hope he doesn't make the team. Lol. Sounds like a door knob.

I mean, come on, it's a development camp.

Also, could be Marco...

I don't know why, but I think Greg Chase is one of our biggest sleepers of the last few years. His skill set is extremely useful in the NHL these days, and it seems like it would be one of the easier transitions after a little development.

It'll be interesting to see watch him next year, the Hitmen won't have Cody Sylvester, Viktor Rask and Brooks Macek around, so they'll be relying on him quite a bit.

Also, for no real reason, I like that Kyle Chase from the Team1260 is his Dad.

Random thought, the WHL is going to have a great forward crop for next years draft.

Sounds like he could be our Marchand/Shaw. Not sure if he plays C full time, but that would be a huge bonus.

Yep. I'm amazed he went so low. He was always one of the most frustrating, annoying players to play against back in Bantam. Overall, he has no real weaknesses in his skill set.

It's his effort and consistency. I was a season ticket holder for the Hitmen this past year and I thought Chase was really good the last two years, but he's only really good some of the time. A comparable for me would be Wellwood.

in a bad way. Well need 1 or 2 to fit into the top six in 3-4 years if we run into cap issues, or we need to trade/upgrade a forward.

As is stands right now, our prospects mostly have 3-4th line upside.

Potential 2LW:
Slepyshev
Khaira

Potential 2c:
Yakimov

Potential 2rw
Roy
Rajala- size issues

Need to some more

Khaira has been playing center mostly last season but we definitely need more forward prospects.

Even prospect that slot into the bottom six that is where teams can build really good bottom sixes from drafting.

I think we are underrating Roy... guy has all the tools to be an elite second liner... may be more... I made the comparison once... but I think he is a poor man's P. Bergeron... just look at the numbers and the style of play... so many similiarties it is scary really...

Hopefully that's the case, a late growth spurt could turn him into one hell of a prospect!
