Nashville - Edmonton

To Edmonton:
Ellis
Gaustad
2014 1st

To Nashville:
Nugent-Hopkins

Nashville needs a #1C

Edmonton needs help on the back end and in the bottom 6.

Thoughts?

What more am I adding? I didn't know an assumed top 5 pick, up and coming defenseman and bottom 6 help was THAT off? More picks? Roster players?

Would need to add to RNH for him to match even match Weber. Edmontons players don't have infinite value.

There is nothing reasonable you could add. Edmonton needs a 1C too and RNH is the only one we have.

There is no incentive for Edmonton to trade away any of our big 5 for depth.

If you are really serious about this would have to be Jones starting for sure... don't think you would need to add much more... but Jones + Gaustad would do it I bet... helps Oil fill two big needs...

Yakupov might be available, but not likely for depth. I'd even add to Yakupov for a young D who's team could be in a tight spot. Thinking 2 for 1 from Edmonton's POV. We need a #1 D a lot more than we need "help" on D and bottom 6'ers.

What would Ryan Ellis do for Edmonton? really? but then again I wouldn't trade Nugent-Hopkins for Seth Jones either.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is a franchise centerman, let's be realistic.

The irony of you commenting on someone elses bad proposal is not lost, the correct phrasing is Nuge should become a franchise center

Counter offer:

To Edmonton: Weber
To Nashville: Gagner, Marincin, 1st

See how that's not enough? And IMO that is a better package than Gaustad, Ellis, and your 1st.

If you're targeting a #1C, don't go after a team that lacks center depth just because they may need some help on the back end. Edmonton probably has a greater need for a #2C than a defenseman at this point, especially one like Ellis.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but the truth is the Avs are a far better trading partner than Edmonton. Other teams might also fit the bill.

One final note. If you want a #1C, expect to pay for it. Future picks have limited value until later in the season. You cannot expect to avoid giving up core pieces to get a major core piece back without extenuating circumstances. If you want a #1C, I honestly cannot see you guys giving up anything less than a Roman Josi in the process.

I would seriously consider S.Jones + 2nd for RNH and only Oilers had another deal for an "available" vet center like Statsny...

Lopsided proposal.
