What is this even. No one is trading picks for picks with no idea where the picks will fall.

I am reasonably confident about the Pens chances to pick after the Leafs, so sure. A little bit about your reasoning here would be nice though, because it certainly isn't obvious.

So Toronto swaps 1st rounders with a superior team only for a 3rd in 2015. Brilliant.

This seems like something the Leafs would do, yeah.

Give your head a shake OP. The only way I would do this is if pitts threw in JUSSI JOKINEN for our 3LW hole.

Toronto 1st 14

for

Pitts 1st 14
pitts 3rd 14
Jussi Jokinen

They need the cap relief not us.

Then flip Pitts 1st and Liles for something to write home about.

Don't question it. Just take the better pick. There is absolutely no way Pittsburgh finishes lower than Toronto.

With Pittsburgh's defense and goal tending barely hanging on, the jury is still out on who finishes higher then who.

Why would either team do this and why would Toronto trade a 1st and a 3rd for a 1st when they have absolutely no idea where any of those picks will fall?

the OP wasn't very good to begin with (for the Leafs), but the counter-offers on the other hand... :help

Would you do the 1st and 3rd for kulemin?

No.

As much as kulemin would help the pens, the pens can't afford not havin their first and second round picks in back to back drafts. Not to mention the pens wouldn't pick until te fourth round in the upcoming draft if that happened

we cant replace kulemin with anything for less then what he is making ($2.8 million). i think the only way this would go down would be at the deadline if kulemin flat out said he will not resign with the leafs. im not 100% confident that he will resign so this might be the best we can get for him? i would push for a really good prospect and a conditional 1st based on him resigning. i think that would be reasonable.

no, because the Pens have salary cap trouble as it is and then they get essentially another Hossa situation with how they would be missing their picks in the first 3 rounds of the next draft. the only difference is that Hossa was much better than Kulemin.
