Prospect ranking: Marc-Antoine Pouliot

I thought I'd start off with Niinimakii and Pouliet and only continue doing the other prospects in the organization if there was enough interest to keep it going. Anyways, I can no longer find the exact # rankings(ie 10=Superstar, etc), but I think I have a pretty good idea still so hopefully it's close enough I won't get ragged on to much.

10=Potential Superstar(Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr...)
9=Regular All Star(Lidstrom, Forsberg, Sakic...)
8=1st liner/top dman(Iginla, Weight, Hatcher)
7=Top 6 forward/top unit Dman(Carter, Brewer...)
6=Solid 3rd liner/second pairing Dman(Marchant, Ricci, Staios)
5=3rd/4th liner/3rd pairing Dman(Moreau, Cross...)
4=Minor leagues/limited NHL action/PB(Ferguson, R. Fitzpatrick)
3=Career Minor Leaguer
2=Career depth Minor Leaguer
1=Hockey dropout

So anyways, this ones for Pouliet like the subject suggests, what would you rate him? And I'm leaving it up to you if you want to do it how you think he'll end up or his top end, it'll give better, more acurate results that way I bleieve. And like I said in the Niinimakii thread, if these are popular and people want me to do them with the rest of the prospects I gladly will.

I like Pouliot a little better than Niinimaki because:

1. He was one of the youngest players in his draft year (18 years, 1 month) and Niinimaki was older (18 years, 10 months). Not a huge difference, but his 32 goal Q season came as a 17 year old.

2. Pouliot is getting playing time. Niinimaki is caught in the old Jani Rita 3rd line few minutes Finnish League where development comes second.

3. His PPG are improving, even this season when he's been injured:

01-02 Q 28gp, 9-14-23 .821
02-03 Q 65gp, 32-41-73, 1.123
03-04 Q 21gp, 12-17-29, 1.38

He's lost alot of PP time to Crosby it looks like, as he has only 1 PPG this season afer having a bunch last year (don't know the exact number).

Health of course is a concern, but he's showing improvement each season. I gave him an "8".

Health sounds like a real concern. I see he is again missing Rimouski games (scratched January 8th).

The talent, skills, and size are there, but I keep hearing echos of Dennis Sobchuk/ Jim Harrison/Humpty Dumpty deja vu.

Since there's been a lot of votes, but not all that much discussion, I'm a little unsure if people would like me to continue with these prospect rankings so I think I'll make a quick poll asking if I should or not then go from there. I just thought this would be a good time to do this as there's no current hype about any recently drafted player and players are in their midseason form for the most part(a few injuries though).

39 votes is a pretty good vote total I think. I enjoy the results.

Close between 7 and 8....and I think about a 7.5 rating should be about right for Pouliot.
