Scott Niedermayer
Brendan Shanahan

First real honest-to-goodness-in-my-opinion drafted Devils into the HHOF.

Both are members of the difficult "Triple Gold Club" for having a World Championship, Olympic, and Stanley Cup victory under their belts.

As someone who is old enough to have been apart of these boards while he still played here, congrads to Scott Niedermayer. Thought he was a tad of an underachiever till around 2000 when all of a sudden I realized he'd made 2 to 3 defensive mistakes all season. Great player, still a little bitter he left here but that was Lou's fault too for not locking him up to a long term deal in and around 2000,2001.

That or he should have acquired Rob Niedermayer sometime around 2004.

Lou tried to get Rob. The asking price at the time was Gomez.

Should have said yes to that. Hindsight is 20/20 but making a first ballot hall of famer happy in exchange for a good young center who can't score goals seems like a price to pay 100 X over.

What it's been like to be a Devils fan in one statement. "Scott Niedermayer and Brendan Shanahan make NHL hall of fame today. Both players drafted by New Jersey Devils, both players left via free agency in the prime of their careers."

Fetisov is a technicality. He was arguably on his way to a HOF worthy career with the Red Army. He already had 10 years in the bag when he was drafted by the Devils.

Furthermore, he was also picked up by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1978 Draft.

Leaving Dano as the only Devil with a retired number not in the HOF.

Was hoping for Mogilny too. Triple Devils would have been too awesome.

This is the second time in 3 years that more than one player that played for us will be going to the HOF. Last time it was Joe Nieuwendyk and Doug Gilmour two years ago.

I always said Niedermayer was a lock for HOF in his first year of eligibility.

As an owner of two Niedermayer jerseys (my first one I bought in 1993), I'm happy. I know he left in a way that left a sour taste in the mouth of a lot of fans, and I understand it to a degree. I don't lump him in the same category as a Parise though.

He'll always be my favorite Devil.

Or Lou's fault for making the previous negotiation a little....unpleasant shall we say.

Niedermayer held out two times before that time in 2000. He was notorious for it.

Niedermayer said in the past that he'd like to go in as a Devil. I can see him going in as a Duck though since he currently works for them.
