We will see what is released. I don't expect any of the beat writers to know, but the hockey guys are usually only top of things.

It doesn't matter what is released. We already know that "one-way" has nothing to do with waiver eligibility, only money paid if he plays in the AHL.

Hope Gus comes into camp having put on some muscle and worked on his shot.

If he gets stronger and adds some heat to his shot, I see no reason he can't become a
Solid top 4 OFD.

I'm always happy to see guys like Gus and Read go un-drafted then make it to the NHL. Makes me feel good for some reason.

Huh? Maybe I'm misreading you, but one-way contracts have zero bearing on waiver eligibility.

But he could be subject to waivers still, that was my point. If he is, than he's secured a spot on the big club.

Unless it changed in the new CBA I think 80 games played is generally going to be the eligibility mark for a guy like Gus. He has 60 games played total, and less than the 300 something professional games to otherwise qualify if he had played 40 games the previous year, or whatever that rule is.

It's probably a moot point anyway. Gus played extremely well last year and his skill set is a benefit on this team.

And his cap hit is low relative to those skills and his room for improvement.

I know this is a stupid question but with Emery getting Gustafsson's number, has their been word on Gus' next #?

Gus was signed on March 31st 2010. His contract went into effect on July 1st 2010 though that really does not matter.

The counted age at the time of his signing is 22, so he has 3 years or 70 games of waiver exemption.

Gus has only played 60 NHL games but has completely 3 seasons of his ELC.

Basically, Gus is no longer waiver exempt and would have to go through waivers to join the AHL.

The waiver period begins 12 days before the start of the regular season and ends the day after the team has played its last game of the season.

So Gus is a Flyer for the season, which we really already knew.

Nice for Gustafsson.

Now it's up to him to justifiy the signing and earn his paycheck next year. Lookin' forward for the swedish D Combo.

Gistafsson wore #7 his last year in college. He wore 36 for the phantoms as well. Which is now taken by Flyers legend Zac Rinaldo. Gus wore #27 in his brief stints in 2011. When Talbot was acquired 27 was taken. He wore 26 when he came up in 2011-2012. Fedotenko took that number when he got here so Gustafsson had to switch to 29. Emery took that number so now Gustafsson must switch again. This poor guy lol. Has to compete for a roster spot and a jersey number.

Well 7 is retired for Barber but since Fed is gone now 26 is open again. I assume he'll be back to wearing 26.

Well him signing kinda of screws us up cap wise. By the end of the offseason we need to be cap compliant. With Gus signing for 1 million it puts us over 2 million now. We could have waived Rosehill and Gervais to make it work, and just brought them back up in the beginning of the year. Now they don't clear enough space. Someone will be moved.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gus wear #6 now that he likely has a permenant roster spot and lolja is gone.

He wore #7 in college and has worn different variations of the number 6 here, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, I don't see any way a trade doesn't happen now. It could be someone expected like Mez, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Coburn moved either.
