I'd either keep Hemsky or deal him for what you said above or if it landed me an actual useful player. I don't see Booth as a useful player. Canucks fans have been ripping him apart and every time I watch him, he's been soft on the perimeter.
Keeping him seems smarter right now. I'd rather see him on the 3rd line than Jones.

Same. If MacT is down to his last option with Hemsky, then keep him on line 3 and wait until someone gets more desperate or wait for trade deadline.

That's assuming 2 things. That the 2 of them play matching games (they don't) and that signing Clarkson to that contract would've been a good idea (it wouldn't have)

Yotes fan back in peace with an offer that continues Edmonton's transformation into "Phoenix North." :-)

Would Klesla for Hemsky @ 50% salary be a doable trade?

Does Phoenix need Edmonton to retain salary? I keep seeing proposals for retaining salary, but I haven't seen anything happen yet.

At 51M in payroll with Boedker unsigned. Payroll budget next season will be around 55M. Unless we do some other moves, we'd absolutely need the Oilers to retain salary on Hemsky.

He's not as proven as we'd like, but atleast we'd be much harder to play against.
this guy.

Good to see Gregor and Stauffer stealing my ideas

Meh, Klesla isn't worth a retained Hemsky.

BTW if Gregor brings up your idea, then you're your idea may be on life support. Wasn't he in support of trading Yakupov for Clarkson? Oh God.

We'd need a forward coming back. Our D is already borderline crowded at the moment.

If we're keeping that amount of salary I think Hemsky has higher value than that.

Trying to fear monger offer sheets is dumb. More GM's should take advantage of them. They're in the CBA for a reason.
Remember when that mouthbreather John Davidson sent an offersheet to Steve Bernier a week after the Canucks sent one to David Backes? Hilarious stuff.

An offer-sheet to Clifford makes way too much sense. Nystrom just got $2.5M long-term on a UFA deal. Worst case scenario we overpay a third/fourth liner for the next few years. Best case scenario he develops some of his offensive game and turns into a Bickell-esque player who can play some top 6 minutes.

Los Angeles seems like a good team to target as well given that they likely have zero desire to pay a 4th liner on their team more than $2M. I've always thought offer sheets for depth guys like this with the potential to play bigger roles made more sense than going after a team's star like Pietrangelo that they have zero interest in losing.

I had a lot of Blues in my hockey pool. This is why I want to recruit this guy.

Like I said, no point of sending an offer sheet for Clifford, just offer the Kings a 2nd or David Musil or something for him. Then we can sign him to an actually reasonable contract instead of something dumb like 5 years 4 mil per or something.

I asked the Wings board about Andersson. What do you guys think of this if we sign Grabo?

Yuck, I might do that for the 2nd round pick alone but not for Gagner too

I'd rather package Gagner + Petry + ? or Gagner+ to get a true impact player instead of more bottom sixers.

Sad but true

I am just drooling over the thought of seeing yakimov in 6 years play 5 games on our 4th line

The issue is that Los Angeles has no real reason to trade Clifford. Offer-sheets are used so sparingly that a "trade him to us for cheap or we'll offer-sheet him!" scare tactic would likely not be all that effective.

I honestly think an offer-sheet of 3 years and around $3M would be enough to make the Kings say goodbye. Heck, $2.5M (right what Nystrom made) might be enough given where he slots into their roster.

Hopefully RNH asks for a trade by then due our **** management so Yakimov can take over on the 1st line.

It's July 9th. GMs go on vacation. We missed out on two of the biggest trade/signings day. Yes, I think we have a right to be upset that our team looks WORSE than last year, if that's possible.

It's a shame this guy throws in his digs at Edmonton so often or I wouldn't have un-followed him. He does have legit info sometimes.

Carolina has an internal cap I believe. I still think we should target Ruutu with N Schultz, even if we have to retain salary. Ruutu is a pain in the ass to play against and look good with RNH + Ebs.
