why didn`t we sign Corvo

he looks good, instead of wasting $ on Samsonov , he could of been a nice signing for us , and not a dumb contract at all. It shows if you do your homework properly
you don`t have to spend like a drunken sailor to gte a quality player.

Corvo was amazing last night but who says Bob did not try to sign him or Preissing!
Both are great signings by Muckler.

Corvo was traded to Ottawa in the Havlat exchange

My bad then :p

Edit: I was at the game yesterday and was actually pimping him before it started. I absolutely love his shots and he's so quick. They're either right on the ice and placed for a rebound or a tip or a foot and a half od the ice.

I read a lot of teams' board and I do know that Corvo received a lot of heat from LA fans last year saying how a liability he was defensively.....

Seems that he's not the same player this year, but let's wait a little....

Corvo is great offensively but the Habs are not strong enough defensively to have him...If there was a Redden or Meszaros on the team maybe...But Corvo-Souray matchings scare the crap out of me...

Corvo was signed by Ottawa and Preissing was in the 3 way deal in the Havlat trade.

I like Corvo, but at the time we didn't need any Defence of help.

The nice thing about Corvo is that he's paired with Phillips.

Chris is a very stay-at-home type who is good at covering when Joe joins the rush.

Phillips had a bit of a rough start to the year, but since Corvo returned from injury and was paired with Chris, he's played much better. (he's also back on his natural left side)

What the heck would the habs want Corvo for? Souray and Markov are providing ample offense from the blue line. I didn't want Corvo then, and I still don't want him now.

I'm sure Brisebois had some pretty good scoring games at times too. Heck, even Lyle Odelein did. But I do believe Corvo is far more Brisebois-like than Odelein-like. Goes to show, new NHL, put him out there with some guys like Heatley and co., sure he'll pile up points. I don't think that necessarily makes him a good player, though. But then, some folks will look at Souray's points and say similar things, I guess.

I love it when people think we can sign anyone we want. Maybe Corvo had no interest in coming...hell based on the info in this post, maybe he wasnt even a FA!

ummm Im pretty sure that Corvo led the NHL in plus minus at one point last season hes actually very responsible in his own end, he would have been a very nice fit in montreal.

yes he did, he is a solid # 3 dman , you could of had him for 3 mil a year , Muckler and his staff have done agreat job, Vermette, Eaves, Corvo, Prissing, Neil, Mezeros, etc.. Corvo was a solid free agent at half the price of the overated kUBINA , and at 29 , you have him for his best years ahead, this is called , having that sixth sense , which Ottawa has , they lost a ton of talent but improved depth wise. We didn`t need Samsonov, period end of story, wasted dollars like I said before , Corvo would of enabled us not to OVERPAY A SOURAY OR RIVET , especially Rivet whose career will go down hill after some team foolishly pays him .
Bob did great by letting Ribs go, the bottom line is we were going nowhere with him , and it was time, but we missed the boat big time here . This new NHL is all
about making the timely $$$ moves .
