I'd love to see Bolland wear 91. I wouldn't be shocked if he wears 9, though.

Bernier will likely wear 1. I think 30 will be his second choice.

Clarkson is really the question mark. I think he's going to push hard to get 17, and I hope he gets it.

I know people talk about Clark being a legend and that the numbers that are honoured should be reserved for special players, but the fact is 1) those numbers should be (and I'm pretty sure are) in circulation on the players (ie: Clark's) discretion, not the team's, and 2) that giving out numbers to special players is practically impossible since prospects almost always choose their number before they establish themselves and high level acquisitions are extremely rare especially in today's NHL. In the end, I think the fact is the Leafs honour numbers instead of retire them so that they can be worn by the next generation, and I think 12 years is long enough of a time between players wearing a number. In the end, Shayne Corson wore 27 with the Leafs, so I think it's fine if Clarkson wears 17.

If he can't, though, I'd love if he wore the next number down.

Keon refuses to let his number be honoured. Therefore, he gets no say in the matter.

His own bloody fault.

That said, if it weren't for that, Andreychuk would never have worn it and I'd have never idolized that number for most of my childhood.

Also, Stajan made the team at 19 under one of the most strict coaches at the NHL level as far as young players. He might not sound like a fair selection to wear 14 now, but back then it probably would have been an easier sell.

Clarkson will likely keep his #23 as it's open. He shouldn't be wearing #17 and he doesn't need the comparason to Wendel.

Fraser may not be back so Bernier could keep his number as well.

JB should wear #1, he has the appropriate initials.

Bolland #9

Clarkson #23

#13 and #93 for that matter also should never be worn in Leaf land.

Love Clarkson, but 17 was a legend and still is in Toronto.

lol, what about 1,4,7,9,10,27?

They are all honoured for more than one person. I guess youre too young to remember Sittler, who was the Leafs all time leader in goals and points. Why wasn't 27 off limits?

It's been long enough, 13,17, and 93 are fair game.

I don't think anyone wants to wear 93, 17, or 13, they'll come with the expectation that the person wearing it would play up to the legacies they represent.

Not that it really matters at all but I'd like to see Kadri take the 91 he wore in junior.
