My guess is the 2nd year is to hopefully scare teams away if he is sent down. Figure they won't want to have him around for a 2nd year. Should give Dumont this year to prove to the habs he's worth keeping around.

That brings us to 13 forwards plus White. If anybody else is signed expect Desharnais(or Moen or Bourque) to be traded.

Great deal for the Habs, not so much for Dumont. I'm sure he'd rather a 1 year contract than 2 year/2 way. Anyway, good job Bergevin.

I don't think they'd risk sending him down. He's a useful player and cheap, I think somebody would take him on waivers. His gritty style fits well on a 3rd or 4th line and he can chip in a bit of offense.

If I was GM I'd keep both.

Love the kid too. Once he takes more assurance, he'd be even more effective.

Good kid, plays big, keeps it simple, doesn't put himself in sticky situations.

Plus: CHaracter

Good signing.

Why? It's a 2-way deal.

If you know me, you know I'm skeptical and hate those fake rumor sites....well unless I'm mistaken, congrats to "Dans les coulisses" who really were the first to report this. And I've checked through Twitter, when most of the fake rumor sites are taking their infos from, and Coulisses were the really first ones to do so. Again, unless I'm mistaken.

I really liked what I saw from him last year, but where does he fit? At this point he doesn't have a role in the top 9 and with his size, does he fit on our fourth line? He is a pesky, get under the opponents skin, which worked to his advantage by drawing penalties. I know he does play bigger than his size, and he likes to hit, but can he make to be a full time 3rd liner? Does he have the defensive awareness to do so?

A lot of questions I think he can answer next year. I don't think he starts with the Habs, but I do see him playing 20-30 games next year with all the injuries that will happen. (not forecasting anything, just simple deductive reasoning)

I would be surprised to see him picked off waivers. A 5'9/5'10 4th liner with 13 nhl games under his belt doesn't sound like he be picked as usually other teams also have players they are trying to get to the AHL without being picked.

I don't think he'll bring enough offense to be a regular 3rd liner in the modern NHL. He can play center of wing, take faceoffs, kill penalties, play a physical uptempo game, generally not hurt the team in a variety of roles - and obviously he comes at a cap hit that leaves room to improve at more important positions. IMO Dumont and White are very good options as 4th line/utility players. Better options at this point than Moen or Blunden.
