Reebok marketing claims

About to replace my shin and shoulder pads and after a lot of research (many thanks to some posters on this board) have decided to go with Reebok.

I noticed a few of their marketing claims on the hockey monkey website:

% of NHL players who use Reebok protective:

Shoulder: 64%
Elbow: 89%
Shin: 99%

Impressive numbers if true... but have these stats been independently verified?

Zigtech fabric: "resulting in an increase blood & oxygen levels on average of 7%"

This one set off my BS-detector. So what's the story on Zigtech fabric and blood oxygen levels?

If I remember correctly a lot of the reebok gear used by pro players is just jofa gear that has been branded reebok. That would account for the large amount. I personally dislike most reebok gear, but love my reebok JDP elbow pads.

Those numbers were probably accurate a few years ago.

JOFA gear was hugely popular in the 80's and 90's but was bought out by Reebok and sold as RBK. A lot of guys switched over when the NHL went to softer caps because RBK was the first to get certified. And frankly, the JOFA stuff was just way better than the competition.

I think those numbers are tailing off as young players who grew up using store-bought gear continue to use those products, or get endorsements from other brands. And other companies are producing innovative stuff as well, like CCM and Warrior.

What's true is that you'll see a LOT of Reebok/CCM protective gear in locker rooms.

You can ignore the Zigtech thing lol.

Yeah, I found my blood and oxygen levels to be at least 11.43% better when I was using Zigtech fabric.

One thing I can say about Reebok gear is it dries out really fast. I have the 11 KFS and I've been really happy with it. As far as I can tell zigtech is just black elastic with some squiggly lines on it...

If you want gear that dries out fast you would buy the CCM CL line that uses water resistant technology.

Yeah, the beat-up stuff that I'm replacing is Jofa and the JDP design is the main reason I'm going with RBK. Plus I tried the stuff on and it fits really well.

But hey, if it increases my blood oxygen concentration by 7% maybe my game will break through to a new level

The only thing I can think about with the Zigtech is if they are talking about compression gear, some people have found that it can help with reducing muscle soreness.

Should be noted that Rbk/CCM are essentially the same company..

Anytime I've seen players on TV with jersey off, 99% they are wearing the same RBK/JOFA elbow pads. Even guys with Bauer or Warrior sponsors. I wonder if they still make them just for pros or if the teams just keep big stockpiles of them and will eventually run out.

They still make some Jofa/RBK stuff for team orders but not through retail channels AFAIK.

I picked up shoulders at a team sale a few years ago and elbows off eBay, love the Jofa/RBK stuff.
