Detroit is right up against the cap and still needs to sign RFAs Gustav Nyquist and Brendan Smith. The only way they would be able to gain enough cap space to get them both signed is probably via trade. So my question, is there any chance we could pry away Darren Helm and/or Justin Abdelkader? It gives us more depth and they both play a physical, agitating game that we need.
Neither one would give enough space. They have 2 mill and will likely send Samuelsson down, or trade him as a dump. I think there's even 1 more buyout period, so they might do it then.

They don't really need to move anybody, they have 22 guys signed with 2+ mil left, by signing those 3 RFA's they have to send somebody down.

As far as buying out Samuelsson, isn't he injured?

I think the 2nd buyout window is only for teams with arbitration hearings...

You guys are seriously something. A player goes to another team so our GM must want us to be crap. What's wrong with you people?

I think they would keep Helm and Abdelkader. The guy they don't seem to like much is Tootoo. And then there are the age/health questions on Bertuzzi and Samuelsson... those are the 3 guys I'd see them looking at to make cap space.

And not so much for Smith or Nyquist... those guys are good, promising young players but still don't have a statistical basis for asking for much. You might well get them both for the $2.3M in space they have left.

Instead of acting like a victim, why don't you try justifying that post? The others are right, it's embarrassing.

i did justify, my opinion is MB has a soft club, and needs changes....

perron may not be batman, but better then DD

19,000 posts does not mean your right either,

this should be freindly banter, not name calling or like sitting in parliment, yelling at each other.

last time i checked none of us get paid for this, nor can we change the team, but we can state our feelings with the hope of a honest , disscustion.

sigh

The honest discussion was everybody laughing at you. Wishing for David perron and *****ing about being soft in the same sentence is wiley coyote level of irony.

And nobody brought up post count here except you, I'm sorry if you feel insecure about that, but it's irrelevant.

We dont have a struggling player comparable for Paajarvi. He had lot of upside, but his game never made it in the NHL. Hes like a cheap-ass version of Eller -but on the wing-.

Nothing.

We don't want more small, weak, frail skilled player. We have a ****ing abundance of those.

well again name calling, becuase you are a mod,

DD is soft and small, and the team is overall that, as anyone knows,
I don't think perron is as soft as DD, but who cares,

if MB makes this team bigger and stronger, then so be it, if not well then we get punted around again from TO , Bos, and 18 other teams.

+1

It's frustrating reading these posts, because it always comes down to it's our GM's fault, followed by more posts of ppl whinning, blah, blah, blah.

Does this mean that the Blues have enough money to re-sign Stewart now?

Dumont isn't frail.

Perron and Paajarvi could take him on at the same time and lose.

MacTavish wanted the Oilers to get bigger.

Or Pietrangelo.

Either way, I think it was unlikely we'd get Stewart anyways.
