Ryan White Arbitration thread

Per Renaud Lavoie.

Apparently this dime-a-dozen player thinks he's worth more than what the team is offering.

I'd be upset if I were him. Inferior player who's proved nothing in Dumont gets two year deal while White has to fight every year to get crappy 1 year deals.

To which bergevin replied ' lol k'

Hah. I have to say, and no one will believe me, I wondered if Ryan White would be annoyed about only being given his qualifying offer. This should be fun.

I'm wondering what White's agent's argument will be... I'd be thinking that White's last season is about the worse one can have before going to arbitration...

Meh, I don't see how he can make a case that he's worth more than like $850,000.

Dumont got league minimum and a 2 way deal. If Dumont get sent down and clears he gets significantly less. A 1 way contract basically gives better security you'll be in the NHL and if you are sent down, you still get your NHL based salary.

They can sign before is hearing (when it's announced)

This would be a great time to acquire Thorburn somehow.

What's going to be White's case ? I'm really good at taking really dumb penalties ? Arbitration is HFboards. They look at stats and nothing else.

Great team guy and all, but be serious.

Pffft, let him go if he's going to be a problem. At this moment, his on-ice play hasn't evolved into anything worthwhile IMO. He's just here to be a nutcase.

Not sure why people wouldn't be upset to lose him. As if we had plenty of his type of players in the system. Not sure what the difference is between the 2 though to go to that extent.

Dumont got a 2-way deal. That's exactly what White DOESN'T want.

They'll settle before arbitration I think. White's probably just asking for a one-way deal.

He has a case...

"Well, I was scratched a lot... and I'm a 4th liner BUT... I stripped the puck from the greatest defenseman of all time AND scored on a future Vezina winner!"

Watched them both in Hamilton and unless something big has happened to Whitey in Montreal Dumont may not walk into as many fists but he is a better hockey player. Besides aren't we talking one way versus two way contract.

He deserves a one way deal. Hes a very good, young fourth liner who can play a bit. He has alot of guts and while i think 850k is fair for him, hes earned the right to the security of a roster spot IMO

Arbitration is his only leverage to get proper value. If he doesn't file then MB can simply wait him out and get him at his QO.

He cost the team a few games last year and kept getting second chances. He is lucky the Habs still believed in him. He looks like a crackhead sometimes. Surprised he chose this route.

How did you fix it? Dumont needs to clear waivers to be sent down, two years is more security than White's ever been given. Dumont will be kept as the 14th forward because he isn't going to develop any more. Not to mention he'd have one of the largest AHL salaries of people on two-way contracts. How many AHLers who have proven nothing get 300k guaranteed?

Dumont got security for 300K (or so) for two years.
White is probably looking for security in the 800K range per year.

One security is more secure than the other, me thinks.

On topic : everything in the 800K-ish range would make sense.

lol

Come on White. You were in the coaches doghouse all year last year, and barely played for a stretch. How much more do you think you could possibly be worth? You do realize that we would easily replace you...?
