Lasch actually signed with a SEL team, so its likely he won't be back in North America for atleast a year.

With players that are currently under contract (only assumptions made are Ashton and Holzer making the Leafs and Abbott re-signing as RFA)

Leivo - Smith - Abbott
D'Amigo - McKegg - Ross
Broll - Ryan - Biggs
Devane - Crescenzi - Lasch

*Smith and Abbott are without a question the best offensive players on this team and will likely be paired together on the top scoring line. I think Leivo is a really good fit with them as he adds size and is skilled.
*D'Amigo and Ross both have chemistry with McKegg afaik so this is a line based solely on familiarity. McKegg and D'Amigo are probably the 3rd and 4th best forwards on the roster and Ross should add a physical presence and be given a chance on a scoring line.
*Broll and Biggs and Devane... that's just messed up dude. That's scary messed up. This team is big and mean and scary. Ryan, Carrick and Crescenzi all good soldiers, defensive players.

Brennan - Blacker
Marshall - Granberg
Percy - MacWilliam

*idk the defense is up in the air. Management will likely add another veteran. I don't see a place on the Leafs for Brennan and view Gardiner, Franson, Liles and Rielly as superior options.

MacIntyre
Sparks

I in no way shape or form see Holzer not in the lineup.

Even with Fraser, the Leafs defense lack size and physicality. I'm sure Holzer will be able to crack the lineup this year.

Gardiner, Brennan, Rielly, Liles and Franson all fill the same role. Gunnarsson is a two-way guy but isn't physical and Phaneuf is a star player.

Also worth noting, Franson and Holzer are the only two right handed defenseman, and the only other natural right side d-man is Phaneuf.

Left side:
Gunnarsson
Gardiner
Liles
Fraser
Brennan

Right side:
Phaneuf
Franson
Holzer
Blacker

Conclusion being, Holzer fits well into the line up and he wasn't too bad when played in his proper role as a depth player. Everyone who hates Holzer hate him because he was exposed against teams' top player while playing alongside Phaneuf, which would have happened to Fraser if roles were reversed.

The Zigomanis Era is over. RT @BillHoppeNHL: #Amerks have signed Mike Zigomanis, Frederick Roy and Alex Lepkowski to AHL deals.

That hurts the Marlies C depth tremendously. Especially if Smith and Colborne make the Leafs.

He signed a one-way and has played in the NHL before. While unlikely, I wouldn't rule it out.

Really hope Colbourne spends this year in the AHL. I think he would benefit greatly from a top line role with a full healthy season.

I would.

He'll get a look at camp, But he's been brought in to help the Marlies and help out with the kids down there cause it's going to a very young team next season.

Well, this is looking like a pretty poor year for our Marlies.

We all thought Kostka was an AHL signing last year. Yeah, Kostka sucks, but he did end up playing a significant amount with the Leafs. All I'm saying is we don't know how training camp will turn out.

If our young players develop well, I'm fine with that.

But yeah, Zigo will be missed with the Marlies. Great player and veteran/leader for the team. Good luck to him with the Amerks.

I agree, I just don't think most of our prospects are ready at the moment.

Well considering we lost virtually our top line, and Colborne is potentially up with the big club, who of Leivo Biggs or Ross do you see ready to play first line minutes for the Marlies?

Ashton can, Mckegg can, D'amigo can, Abbott can, outside of that our forward prospects aren't ready for top 6. Maybe Leivo.

Smith, Ashton, Abbott, Leivo McKegg and D'Amigo for the top 6 are the main candidats IMO.

One of Ashton, D'amigo, or Smith could be up for a 13th forward spot as well.

But yeah, I'm just saying we're thin up top.

Yeah, fair enough.

We just signed Bodie, should be a good leader and physical presence for the Marlies.

I'm ok with the sigining, but for a Marlies sigining I would have liked a guy that can play on the top 6, with pro experience so he could have been a leader for the kids, but still a guy who's young that need a change of scenary, that could have a future for us in the NHL if the change of scenary work.

I'm thinking guy like Zach Hamill, Philippe Cornet, Nick Palmieri, Mitch Wahl, Keven Veilleux, Brett Sonne, Maxime Macenauer. Or a trade for a Trevor Parkes, or Stepahne Da Costa (don't think he'd play another year in the AHL tough).

And he's more of a bottom 6 guy, but I would like Stefan Della Rovere in our organisation. Always been a big fan of him.

I agree fully. The top 6 needs a leader for the team, Ziggy was perfect for that. It's a shame we lost most of our leaders in Scott, Hamilton, Zigomanis, and Acton all in the same off season. I know it's a development squad, but vets help the kids as much as top 6 playtime IMO.

Yeah, for sure.

Still like the Hamill option like I said.

The guy is a top 6 AHL'er, has 5 full pro seasons I think so he can mentor the kids, but still young and can be a NHL'er for us in the future if he turns thing around.

Ashton - Smith - Abbott
McKegg/D'Amigo - Hamill - Leivo

Would be a pretty decent top 6 to have with the Marlies.
