As someone stated before, McCarron will take two years (possible) to three years (probable) to reach NHL.
Same as Tinordi.

So he could do:
  • One year in NCAA;
  • One year in London;
  • One year in AHL.

Other choice would be two years in London then one year in AHL.

Based on Tinordi, we could expect the former but this is a new management team.

Would be nice to see him take advantage of WMU for a year and then finish the season with the Knights.
If he could come in London for the PO and go to the memorial cup it would be nice.
This would give him at least the first round of PO.
This year, Frozen four finished on started March 28th to April 11th and OHL PO started on March 21st.

It also increases his chances to be in the US WJC team.
Most likely, he will be invited again.

In the same year, going to WJC, Frozen four and memorial cup would be quite good.

Better choice = 2 years OHL and 1 year AHL. Period.

This is good news. Not only for development, but for me. My move to London will be nice, now that I can watch MacCarron on a weekly basis for the Knights.

Yes...

I think going from league to league didn't really help Leblanc.

16 Midget AAA
17 USHL
18 NCAA
19 QMJHL
20 AHL

That's a lot of changes every year.

lol hes already 6"5 230 lbs..., let the extra lbs of muscle come slowly, dont want him getting too heavy too fast

Ummm, he's not going to be studying the "theory of ice hockey" in NCAA, while putting it into practice on the ice. Not even close. He will also have to worry about his GPA, which is a distraction from his goal. To play in the NHL. Add to this, that he is a giant power forward with a nasty streak who can drop the gloves, and works well in "questionable" quarters... The NCAA will just frustrate the living ***** out of him in my more than modest opinion. The kid belongs in London, with the Hunters, playing an NHL schedule, against tier 1 prospects, that have the same goal... to get to the NHL. Do not go with the big kid on campus with him. On a side note, if he decides NCAA he'll kill one of them.

Sounds to me like he took Tinordi's advice to heart. I'm torn, but more disappointed. I think he'd have developed better in college, but playing in the CHL means he'll most likely get bumped up to the big club much sooner.

I'm pretty sure where he was drafted from is paramount.

He should be eligible next year (just as anyone not drafted from a CHL would be).

Ummm don't NFL and NBA players go to college? Are they really that distracted before going into pro sports?...

The gap between high school and professional leagues in the US is pretty big. That's why future NFL & NBA players don't really have the choice and they need to go into the NCAA and college. In the NFL, the restriction to enter says that a player must be at least three years removed from the end of high school, or that he must have completed at least three years of college. So they need to be 21 years old. In the NBA, it's a little bit different. There are exceptions with players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James who never went to college because they were already good for the NBA.

Hockey is an exception when you compare it to other sports. Maybe because it's mostly played in Canada, I don't know.

There's that. Although Andy Murray wanted to work with him in other aspects of his game to make sure he crack the Habs' Top 6 one day. Not sure what to think about this.

Very good news because this means I won't have to create him in NHL14 after the CHL roster update.

Ahhh yes. I remember when you said you wanted Tinordi no where near this team, and he was Komisarek 2.0, etc etc. Hopefully you go a little easier on McCarron

Yes they do. Their course loads are well managed, but still it takes considerable effort to juggle the 2.

It's unheard of for an 19 year old to play in the NFL. NCAA is the only realistic way to have a shot at the NFL, occassionally a kid from CIAU makes it, but still, its going through university.

Ditto for the NBA with a few exceptions. Again the majority of roads lead through the NCAA.

Because of this basketball and football players have only 2 choices... make themselves available for the draft or play in the NCAA.... there are no rival junior programs that feed these sports. Therefore all players get pretty much the same training opportunities and its an equal playing field.

Hockey drafts there players @ 18. Pre-University. The majority of players still come from the CHL. NHL teams draft from multiple leagues and use multiple leagues to develop players. If you're finished high school and playing in London, you have far less commitments than being 18 and attending classes. You can focus on what you need to develop 100% instead of having 20% of your focus going to class work.... (let's assume puck bunnies are an equal distraction everywhere).
