If I were Samsonov I would ask for a trade. There is no way he would be playing on the fourth line if he was on another team.

What about Canada's '87 Canada Cup team?

Well, hopefully Samsonov will learn the ins and outs of speaking to the Montreal media. I think our other newbie up front Mr. Johnson has handled himself pretty well, by contrast. Maybe it's just me, but I always feel like he's holding back a little bit every time they ask him about how he likes playing on the 3rd line, being a solid defensive and shut-down guy, etc. But he never puts his foot in his mouth, even though he clearly thinks of himself is a guy with more to offer offensively and isn't exactly taken with a "3rd liner" label.

HOLY ****
why are people still talking as if he DID play on the 4th line...did half of u NOT watch the game last night??

He was on the 3rd line!

BTW...a reporter asked Carbo after the game about the whole putting Sammy on the 4th line thing and this is what his answer was...

«C'était juste pour vous faire parler, a lancé Carbonneau avec un sourire en coin. Je comprends très bien la frustration exprimée par Samsonov, mais je n'étais pas assez sadique pour ne pas le faire jouer à son retour devant ses anciens partisans.»

Translation...

It was just so you guys have something to talk about (said with a smirk). He understands very well how frustrated Samsonov was but he isnt that mean that he wouldnt let him play enough in his return against his former team.

What is his trade value ? A pick ? Another overpaid player ?
I don't blame him at all....what has Latendresse done to deserve that spot. Big deal he played well in preseason....Hasn't really broke the bank in his debut. If Montreal was move soomeone up it shou;ld ave been Perez...he's been better then latendresse. In any case I think if your going to pay a guy 3.5 million ...you should give him at least 10 games to adjust to a new team environment and teamates. Personally I think the C position is the problem. Although Plekanec is a definate upgrade over ribeiro I don't think he's the answer. Samsonov Bonk Kovalev would be much better. Bonk deserve the promotion ..he's earned it.

Ryder Koivu Higgins
Samsonov Bonk Kovalev
Latendresse Pekanec Perezoghin
Begin Johnson Downey /murray

Johnson on your 4th line? Has HE not deserved to move up as well?
Switch Johnson with Tender and you're talking

Yes this is pretty much what was said on TSN too. RDS is very good at misquoting players to create controversy.

Anyone ever notice how lame RDS's translations are on Sports 30?

The guy will be talking for 2 minutes, touching on many aspects of the subject, and RDS's superb translation will be about 1 sentence in the "We worked hard in practice. We hope to turn it around tonight."

They must think we're idiots.

I think they simply figure the vast majority of viewers can understand English, so they summarize in order to have more time to spend actually interviewing the player.

Or do you mean the subtitles?

This just shows me that (suprise!) everyone overreacted. The guy was mad and he said some things he should have kept to himself, big deal. He realized things got blown out of proportion and he's trying a little "damage control." This whole thing will blow over.

Yes they are lamwe because they are the idiots. Remember the Propecia Incident and poor Dr. Mulder? They kept asking french questions even if it was obvious Dr. Mulder couldn't answer. The french media also claimed they couldn't understand what Mulder was saying. Isn't that strange? No one can understand english in any of our major networks/newspapers in the province of Quebec.

MONTREAL (CP) - Sergei Samsonov isn't asking out of Montreal, he just wants to play more.

Gazette
Carbonneau said the Canadiens have done their part as well.
"We made a commitment for two years," he said. "We gave him the money. He has to understand it's not two weeks or a month, It's a two-year deal."
Koivu said it was normal for Samsonov to feel frustrated at losing his spot on a top line, but added that "he showed a great attitude.
"There's no sign of not being happy. The only thing for him is to keep working his way back up to the first two lines and get more ice time."

this is just awful attitude, its like saying i signed in Montreal cause they were not good and they NEED ME. Like he automaticly is huge part of the team even if hes not working. TERRIBLE ATTITUDE, it makes me sick.
