Eberle vs Yakupov

Who should have first line honours with Hall and Nuge?

Personally I think Eakins should try the first overall line, as much as I love Eberle. But what do you think?

RNH plays better with Eberle and Hall and Yakupov seemed to click a bit down the stretch last year.

Divvy it up that way, add a third wheel, and which ever line produces more gets the title of "line 1".

This, just trial and error it, there's no theoretical stand point imo.

Hard to say. Hall - RNH - Ebs seemed to have little trouble toppling most other teams top lines in terms of being more dominant when they are on the ice. They couldn't score but they were putting on solid pressure. Even versus heavy teams. They were held back by Kruegers terrible coaching and system.

Voted Eberle, assuming he's playing with RNH, but I want Perron there instead of Hall

Switch them up between shifts to confuse the opposing teams.

If RNH and Eberle can create their own offense again, you almost have to play Hall and Yak together.

They were just too good as a pair.

Yep gags would love having those guys with him and I'm sure Perron would love to play with a guy who can dish like rnh not to mention that Perron would open up more room for Eberle.

I'm still sour from not getting Monahan.

2 defensive playmaking centers between 4 goalscorers.

unfortunately we have to settle with Gags

It's not about having the honor of being on the "1st line"..it's about which duo/trio has the best chemistry. We have two first lines.

I agree with this even though I made the pole. Sounds like most coaches are interested in pairs which would elude to Ebs and Nuge staying together. Just can't help but think what our first line would look like with Yak on it.

I myself am not a fan of the hall Hopkins Eberle line. Just don't like loading up all on one line when the team lacks depth.

Hopefully we are able to ride two lines now.
Hopkins Eberle
Hall yakupov

Fill the holes.

I think this is right. I think there's probably better balance in splitting the big 4 evenly into 2 lines.

To start the year I'd like to see Hall play with Yakupov, which I guess would be the de-facto #1 line. There was serious Juggernaut potential on display in the waning days of the regular season. But I think it doesn't matter so much who plays with them - hell, you could put Gordon there. (I'd really love to see the Oilers pick up a 40pt two-way centre for the 2nd line and keep Gagner on the wing. Something in a Legwand.)

I'd like to see Yakupov on the 1st unit PP though. Or at least, I would like to see him have as much PP time as any other forward on the team.

Voted Yak, just not to be with Nuge and Hall. I'd run with

Hall - Gagner - Yakupov
Perron - RNH - Eberle

Hall-RNH-Eberle doesn't work and hasn't worked for any significant period of time.

Would much rather see what Yakupov can do in that spot.

Don't compare them. Both are amazing players. Both have there own talents and I'm just glad we have these 2 beauties. Comparing these 2 players is like comparing your 2 children, and which one you like better.

Haha- well said. I agree.

I think Eakins has the ability to move between the two of them as he sees fit.

Whereas the LW is clear: Hall> Perron, and the Center: RNH> Gagner , the RW is a toss up.

You want puck-handling, sweet hands and elite backhand and wrist shot?

Or

Do you want aggressive, elite passing and one-timers?

Love it.

It's hard enough to contain Hall with all of his speed. Imagine having to deal with Yakupov as well? It would be impossible for d-men to cover these guys.

for me i put Hall - gags- yakupov together to play against the other teams top lines. the reason here is speed on the wings and tenacity to retrive the puck. you could really put anyone with yak/hall but gagner fits there because he is a great playmaker and goes hard to the net for rebounds/garbage goals.
then i have perron-rnh-eberle this line could play top minutes but not playing top minutes will allow them to dominate the opposition. i think both lines compliment each other great and should have no issues producing.

I'm not really concerned about "honours" I just think Yakupov's speed would fit better. He and Hall would cause so much havoc with that speed and skill, and then the 2nd line will skill and puck control you to death.

It is a delightful argument, do you want elite talent or elite talent

I think we should experiment with just about every possible combination of our top 6. Nuge and Ebs have had chemistry in the past, but who knows who will click this year.

I don't believe in set lines. We should shuffle the deck every shift.
