I have no problem sending Laughton back to juniors for another year. Everyone always chides this organization for rushing prospects. Even if he is ready now, let him go another year down in the O and then come up next year.

That's kind of a weird thought, if he's ready, why waste him in juniors? Wouldn't he be more useful in the NHL?

I mean, I don't think you'll stunt him if he goes to juniors, I just don't know if the team will see that rationale. If you think he's an NHLer now, might as well keep him.

Laughton is 6-1, 194 pounds.

There's just no room for him. He's not going play center on this team this year. 1-G, 2-VL, 3-Couturier, 4-Hall. That means he is moving to wing, most likely on the third line. Laughton is not at a point yet where he can't be "replaced" so to speak. He's better than the younger guys like McGinn, but I think Gagne could play 3W AT LEAST as good as Laughton could. Let him play another year in juniors and save a year on the contract. They have other options. As is the case with anyone though, if he comes to camp and earns the spot, you give it to him, but just because he is NHL ready doesn't necessarily mean he has to be in the NHL if your team has other options. If he's better than someone on the roster he plays, but if he is as good just let him go back to juniors.

Gagne will most certainly cost more and to a team with pretty much no cap space, that isn't a great idea.

If Mez goes there's enough cap to sign Gagne and still be under cap by a decent about withough having to LTIR Pronger...

You can't just remove Pronger, him being LTIR'd isn't the same as a buyout.

Capgeek doesn't have LTIR available right now. Buyout is the "cheat" to get around that.

Yea, I don't know why they haven't built that in yet.... they are on top of it all usually.

Yeah, and as mentioned they're usually quick to add missing features. My only guess is they turn it off in the offseason so people don't mistakenly believe it's available...who knows.

After reading that Lecavalier likes to be a little more deliberate when entering the zone and after some speculation that Hartnell struggled last year due to the fact that he couldn't keep up with Giroux and Voracek (broken foot probably didn't help), would it make more sense to put Schenn on the top line and Hartnell with Vinny?

Either that or LTIR is not black and white, it depends when you put them on, how long they are on their for and a bunch of other things. Maybe it just gets too complicated.

The cap is calculated daily. So I guess maybe LTIR plays hell with Capgeek during the offseason. As I said, I have no idea.

Well like you said LTIR can't be in place during the offseason, so it's more gauge on how much allowance they will have.

Everyone knows they wanna put a offensive guy like Straka on Giroux's wing just so that Straka can win the Calder

Even if the chances of that happening are slim. Oh weellll I can dream. Straka's shot with Giroux's passes. Mhmmmm

I'd love to see a line of
Schenn / Courturier / Read

Speed, physicality, smarts - seems like they'd be a good trio
