That Erat trade cost us Ribeiro really. It looked bad at the time, worse now, and I actually quite like the way Erat plays, but that cap hit is horrible for us

In hind site, $5.5 for Ribeiro is pretty stout. I truly think Erat will be back to 50 pts. next season. It appears he wasn't happy in Nashville which may have led to poor play. I believe we also speculated that he was playing with an ankle injury, but not sure. I am thrilled about Forsberg, but if I'm right about Marty, and Latta can become the good 3rd/4th liner he's supposed to, it's not so bad of a trade.

Yeah, I think he goes to Anaheim. He'll give depth to their top 6.

I would expect the player that will drop that may determine where Grabo goes is Nik Antropov. I think he is a better fit with Etem as he is a better playmaker. If I am Murray I would look there. Boyes is still out there also, so maybe when these players sign Grabo will find a destination.

St. Louis? Montreal?

Montreal knows the kind of player Grabovski is, so we do not want him back. Let someone else del with him.

Grabo would rather play in Russia than Montreal.

Or he is on his honeymoon, which is something that couples generally do after being married.

Strangely, 3 ex Leafs are the remaining Center's available.

Boyes, Antropov, and Grabo.

All 3 bring different intangibles.

If I want a playmaker with size and defensive play, it's Antropov.

Secondary scoring Boyes.

Up tempo, less emphasis on defence, Grabo.

I wasn't saying he should go to St. Louis or Montreal. The poster I was quoting was saying he's never heard of a team having two 2nd lines so I pointed out two teams that have just that.

One of Burkie's all time gaffes. It's one of those signings where if you worked in the Phoenix Coyotes' office, you seen it come across the wire and quickly rushed into Maloney's office not knowing to laugh (at Burke) or cry because he just set the market higher for glorified third line centers....

Grabovski isn't a 3rd liner but he was overpaid.

As others have said, HE IS ON HIS HONEYMOON! That is the delay. Plain and simple.

When you have salary slots you dont go on vacation from slotting yourself into one.

He's not getting offers. At least not offers he deems worthy enough.

Depends on who you talk to. With the heavy need of second line C, it would be puzzling he's receiving no interest if he actually was one..

Look... Good player who was forced to play up in Toronto. He did ok in those roles but nothing special. The only reason he wasnt a 3rd line C the last few years is pretty simple. Those teams had no other real option.

He's probably in no hurry to sign. He just got paid by the Leafs.

So youre speculating here. Grabo is on his honeymoon, and is crushed this came about. Very happy in Toronto, married a Toronto girl (I know her mom), started to lay some roots, and loved being a Leaf. He'll sign elsewhere soon enough, and the team that does will really enjoy him. Talented player, skates very well, and has the heart that not many do. The idea he wants to play in the KHL is an absolute joke,

Considering we missed a first rd pick for him, yep, it was a gaffe. Just lucky we had the compliance buy out to use, once we did this, Bozak could not cite the Grabo contract and we hit for 2 upgrades in Clarkson and Bozak not too soon afterward.

I believe the OP you quoted was talking more about the up tempo chaos that Grabo and Etem would cause due to their hustle and will.
