Hell, they are kind of in trouble right now, they've lost 4 in a row. And teams like the Nats & Phils are creeping up on them.

Braves already lost today. Chance to pick up a game with lee on the mound I like our chances with a 5-3 win..bullpen makes it close as usual

Typical Phillies, 3 game win streak with Lee on the hill and they lose. They'll lose tonight and undo all the good they did.

BTW, Dodgers are knocking on first place and their 2nd basemen are terrible. If there is a team to absolutely steal from its the Dodgers. I think they have a really good OF prospect.

Joc Pederson: 21, AA, OF, slash line .299/.388/.522/.910, 14 HRs

This guy is a CF, but can play RF. This is the #1 guy the Phils should ask for if an Utley discussion is happening.

Next year could be Brown/Revere/Pederson oldest guy will be 25.

I'm still hoping for that 7-3 record to go into the break. Win the series tonight and take two out of three from Chicago.

And they'll end up .500 club just like they've been all year.

Just sell off the most valuable pieces and right this ship. You can't right it with a bunch of 34-36 year olds.

I wouldn't trade Utley unless it's a top prospect coming back, and not an 18 year old pitcher in low A, someone in AA that looks like they can make the jump in a year or 2. I don't know if you get that for Utley. They probably shouldn't, but I'm willing to bet his name carries a lot of weight. If you can get a can't miss kind of guy then you do it, if not just resign him. He can still play, and maybe you trade him down the line to the AL to DH.

Check out the kid I posted. That's who should be coming back if they trade him to the Dodgers.

Yea I'd do that. He's pretty much gone all General Sherman on the minors so far.

Utley would completely push LA to favorite in the West, maybe close to WS. As long as they stay healthy out there.

So I had a little light bulb go off, that kid is a Dodger so I was thinking he plays out west. That means high elevation like Coors' Field, and skewed stats like found in the Pacific Coast League. But he actually plays down south in Tennessee, so those stat lines are most likely legit.

EDIT: Also his stats are remarkably similar to Trout's. Not quite as good in AA, but still really impressive. I don't know if Utley could return a guy like that, but he is pretty much the type of player I was talking about that if offered you take the deal.

There is no room in their OF right now. Puig/Crawford/Kemp

The kid will rot.

Last night I got in the car and tuned in to the game. Lee immediately gave up 2 homers. I immediately turned the radio off and rode in silence.

Those were clearly my fault, sorry about that.

Trout was 19 when he was in AA and Pederson is 21- big difference. He's not a Trout-like prospect but he is a good one. I dunno if the Dodgers would go for that but if they did, it would be hard to turn down. At least, it would be hard for me, idk about Rube.

Oh, I thought Trout was 20 in AA...

He is doing well though in AA, 2nd in his league in HR, 3rd in Avg, 9th in walks, 4th in 2B. I would probably do that trade, but it would gut wrenchingly painful to see Utley in a Dodgers uniform. Hopefully he'd go to like the Angels or something in the offseason.

Oh, and sorry for being behind the times and not keeping track of things like I should, but is Howard injured yet?

He's out for 6-8 weeks because of his knee.

Of course he is. It's almost as predictable as the tides.

And so is most of the NL. Utley to me is the perfect veteran guy to stick around and guide a new generation of players. Howard and Rollins look done at this point, unfortunately. Utley I think is the last older guy from the 2008 world series that still has value moving into the next few years. And I know that Pederson is great but if you want to do a rebuild then you should be trading Lee first. Lee gets you Pederson+ and if you want to rebuild then Lee has no use on this team.

Plus, I think that Utley would kill himself dealing with the likes of Puig and Ramirez.

Edit: it feels real good to beat the Nats and Braves. Hate them both.

Call up their entire pitching staff to replace the Phillies bullpen.

Jarred Cosart, one of the prospects we traded for Hunter Pence, took a no-hitter into the 7th inning in his MLB debut tonight, and left after 8 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits and 3 walks.

The Rays always flirt with no-nos.

He only had 2 k's which is something that always baffled me about Cosart. The guy's stuff is too good not to miss bats.

Not defending the trade, it was a much greater than the package we received, just don't think Cosart will be as good as he should be.

Can Jimmy Rollins just go away. Pops up almost 70% of the time and refuses to hustle. He boots the ball and then he jogs over to get it while a run scores. He's a bloody embarrassment.
