Edm-Ott trade talks have definitely died down externally due to the Ryan trade but internally maybe MacT still has some interest. Smith and Greening would be a huge upgrade to our fourth line.

At this point, I'd be happy enough with the lineup if we just go get Morrow. If we went and got Steckel or Antropov though, I'd be pretty confident with our team next season

Hall - Gagner - Yakupov
Perron - Nuge - Eberle
Morrow - Gordon - Jones
Joensuu - Steckel - Brown
Smyth

The realization that we are only a few small pieces away from contending is wonderful, except for that #1 D.

I watched Steckel enough living in Toronto that he is no good. Boyd Gordon is just as good a faceoff specialist, and Steckel is extremely slow. I want a 4th line that can really hit to hurt people.

I'd still take Steckel over Lander

Not a chance IMO. Lander is developing nicely and can probably handle 10 minutes a night at this point. I bet by the halfway point of the season he would look great out there.

Not to mention we already have Lander signed, Steckel isn't worth the paperwork.

Kyle Clifford is the next target. Him and Gordon together would be a massive upgrade on the team from last year alone

Morrow is such a good option on the 3rd line LW. Guy lit it up with the Pens and can still produce. Keeps Jones at his natural RW position as well.

He's not my first choice, but I'd rather not just hand Lander the 4C spot (although I do think he might win it anyways)

Stepan's contract will determine what the Rangers will do with Boyle. Could be had IMO

It makes more sense, because Hall drives offence by himself, where as Eberle and Perron as shooters will benefit more with a passer like RNH feeding them all game. Hall will drive the offence himself on that other line, it's like we have two first lines. They are all going to play a similar amount so it's not like he is being demoted by playing on our other first line.

In the AHL maybe. Lander isn't close.

I think you could use those lines as a 1A and 1B.

Well our 2nd rounder is gone so the OS idea is out the window now. And why would they want to trade him to a division rival?

I wasn't all that impressed with him when he was with Dallas last year, after watching Smyth and how quickly he went from o.k. player to garbage I'm a little weary of adding another guy with a lot of mileage on his body.

Stauffer has said 3 times now that Nugent-Hopkins would play well between Yakupov and Perron....and I agree.

Snowpants can ride shotgun with Hall and Ebs. Can't go wrong either way....best top 6 we've had since the '88. Only top 6 in the last 15 years that even comes close is when Comrie was first signed and plugged between Smyth and....was it Carter?? Weight was with Zholtok and I can't remember who.....

IMO Perron is likely the best winger fit for Nail seeing as he's a RH LW. The Hall-Gagner-Eberle line would mean that it'd have 2 of our 3 worst defensive top 6 players on that line.

Other Stauffer tidbits.

-Hemsky may return and nothing wrong with having him on the 3rd line and on the PP with the ability to play in the top 6 due to injury.
-Eakins more open to having some "muscle" in the lineup than Krueger. Sounds like they will bring in a tougher guy than Brown/Eager.

Yeah, that was Stauffer's opinion. Personally I'd rather stick magic hands Perron with Eberle and Hall with Yakupov.

The last thing we need to be adding to our bottom six right now is a goon

How has a team like St.Louis not put it together yet? They have got to have the deepest team in the league. Is it the fact they don't have any premier scorers?

He also said that he thought Hordichuk never got a fair shot here...

Hemsky coming back would be a major negative.

This team needs more balance, not less balance with a dash of sideshow distractions of an unhappy vet sulking because he's a 3rd line checker.

Rather not see a repeat of Yakupov on the 3rd line with plugs again, though that problem has been mitigated with the deletion of the apathetic Horcoff from the lineup.

What duul said . We don't need Nuge to play with Hall. We're better off running 2 balanced scoring lines
