I'm completely delusional in thinking Marchand + Dougie could get the Bruins Pietrangelo right?

Perron for MSP + 2nd is good value, but I still wonder if Edmonton is compiling too many players who are only effective if the puck is on their stick.

To Follow up on my last post the exact numers, my math was not 100% accurate with rounding but this is the finished product on day two next year.

1.3 million dollar penalty, thats not to bad.

If we kept Bart over Krug then the Penalty would be like 150K but no way Krug does not get NHL games next year.
Emergency basis recalls will prevent us from going over that 1.3 penalty if we have an injury.

It is a little tight but hey it works, this team will not need a deadline deal anyway.

They were already there.

MacTavish has managed to ditch Horcoff's contract, while signing Boyd Gordon, Labarbera and Andy Ference... Then he deals MPS for Dave Perron.

I like the moves he's made.

Oilers are starting to add some sandpaper...however they still don't have a good enough defense IMO. While I like Perron's game...that team will still get pushed around.

The problem with this lineup is you have no extras. Realistically the team will carry at least 1 extra forward and 1 extra D throughout the season. Even if they don't dress, they count against the cap. Add Bartkowski and someone like Caron to your lineup for a more realistic number. It may seem like splitting hairs, but that's almost another 2 million added to this year's cap, which pushes that bonus penalty up next year.

Yeah it is a little tight but what if they bring in Pandolfo for a one mounth tryout, then do it with like Steve Begin, no cap, extra practice, we do not need extra's becuase as long as everybody is healthy the line-up is the same, Emergency based call-ups will help with injury aswell, we can ir long term injures.

Oh they are nowhere NEAR where they need to be yet.

But for the first time in the better part of a decade, they've taken steps in a positive direction.

You're missing the point a bit. The extras are not just there to practice with the team. THey need to be able to play if called on. If you have to make an emergency call up to replace a guy with a day to day injury you still have to account for the cap hits of everyone involved. Only very serious injuries can be practically put on LTIR. Just regular IR still counts against the cap. Any lineup needs to leave a good 1 to 2 million in space just for healthy scratches/short term injured players.

Well, that caused a double take head snap on the train.

Where did that come from?

Makes sense. They should make a play for Grabo, too.
