They guy hates playing in New Jersey so much he is giving up $77M dollars. Screw the Devils, I hope the first time the Devils play in the Garden next year the fans chant "Where is Kovy".

1st reaction - Whaaaaaaat???//`1!?!??!?!/!?!/!/!/

2nd reaction - WOW

3rd reactions - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH :handcla p:

I actually feel bad for Devils fans I do... This shouldnt happen. I may hate the Devils more than any other fan, but I want to beat them at their best. This really sucks for their fanbase. What a quitter.

But Lou has more space and will find a way to improve his team regardless, so **** them

This isn't actually true, is it?

I was wondering if maybe the owner was like we really cant afford to pay him the big money which happens to start this coming year. Thinks it like 11mil. If so, talk about a mickey mouse org.

So the Devils lose Parise, lose Clarktard, give up their 1st round pick. Trade a high pick for a new goalie this year (that they could have drafted an offensive guy instead) and have one year left of Marty. They have no offensive prospects in the pipeline, this couldnt set up better for the Rangers if you scripted it.

Yeah. This is horrible. I hate most of their fans, but this is brutal.

As a hockey fan, I am crushed. I loved watching him play. He was a true joy. I don't care that this happened to the Devils. I put that rivalry behind when it comes to the actual game. And seeing a talent like that leave during the prime of his career is truly depressing.

I don't understand the timing, but I wish him well and I hope that he can find happiness since he clearly didn't find it in the NHL anymore.

Partially. Also, this season, and the next few were when Kovalchuk was supposed to get the big bucks. Past seasons were 6mil. 2013-2017 were 11mil+

I don't feel bad for the Devils fans. They wouldn't feel bad for us if if Nash retired.

Turns out those reports about Kovalchuk not wanting to return after the lockout were TRUE!

Is this the single greatest troll job by a player against an organization in the entire history of the NHL?

Wait so do they still have to surrender the first round pick? If so that's actually hysterical

Hate to rain on the parade but the Devils will probably be the favorites for Connor McDavid in 2015.

I find it hilarious. Sucks, but ****ing hilarious.

Why? If this happened to the Rangers, Devils fans would be eating us alive.

Exactly. If Nash or Hank pulled this they would have the reaction that many of us are having. Pure hilarity. I dont feel bad one bit.

What a dick, he couldve announced this before free agency and given the Devils some time to formulate a plan.

Still some left on the market but geeze... what a **** job.
