Another fact: Henrique's best season > Gagner's best season.

Why can't you guys accept this?
I think you've done a fair enough job of explaining why you feel the way you do. Nothing wrong with that.

You just need to accept the fact that the rest of the planet doesn't agree with your assessment. Nothing wrong with that either.

Can you imagine Hemsky, Oilers 2014 1st and Nick Schultz to NJ for Larsson only for Oilers to scoop up their lotto pick in 2014.

My personal opinion is Gagner is very comparable to Henrique, but it doesn't matter.

NJ isn't trading Henrique, certainly not now.

I can't see NJ letting go of Larsson. And NJ won't have a pick in 2014. Trading for a non-existent thing seems foolish.

So how about a deal to "help" the Devils with their now rebuild

To NJ: Hemsky, N. Schultz, Musil and EDM 2014 1st

To EDM: Carter, Volchenkov, Gelinas and NJ 2015 1st

They get a pick next year and young defenseman, the Oilers get depth, a contract they can always buyout if it doesn't work and a shot at Connor McDavid.

Henrique had a great rookie season but he isn't as good as his numbers that year suggested. Like a lot of rookies he had a great rookie season and then went down from there. Good all round player but not a 2nd line center. I remember during his rookie season he put up something like 51 or 52 points and having followed him before that I thought that was odd for him to put up such high numbers. But I knew at that time his numbers would go down and sure enough they did.

Who says Oilers are trading for the 2014 pick.

29 teams have a chance at that pick and by the looks of things, it's looking like a lotto pick.

Ok, you've totally lost me. I have no idea what you are trying to say.

The Devils do not have a 2014 1st round pick. No teams have a chance at that pick, because it doesn't exist.

Could you imagine PRV, Klefbom, Nurse, 2014 1st for Kovalchuk 2 days ago?

Hemsky doesn't have the value that some posters seem to think he does.

No thanks. I liked Matteau during his draft year, but now theres red flags about his character RE: quitting on his team. Weird story.

I have a feeling that the Devils will have their own 2014 1st Round pick. Just a hunch.

Wow are people actually trying to use Henriques rookie season of 51 points as a argument to say he is better offensively than Gagner If henrique ever hits that again I'll be impressed. Players who have unexpectedly great rookie seasons usually don't live up to the hype.

I thought the Devil 2014 pick is being given to the team that wins the draw.

If you get caught stealing a car and that car turns out to be a lemon you still face the consequences

No, that would give one team 2 picks in the 1st for free. As of now, unless the NHL gives the Devils their pick back, the 1st round of the 2014 draft will only have 29 selections. The Devils would be skipped over

I can't see how the NHL could possibly give that pick back. "Ya, you blatantly tried to circumvent the cap but since it didn't work out in your favour here's your pick back" Arrrrrgghhh

Getting off topic sorry

If I stole a car, id get in alot of trouble like prison, If they got caught stealing a car and everyone found out all I actually stole was a lemon I think the punishment would go down quite a bit, like forcing me to buy the lemon

weird example, but I do agree with what you were trying to say

No, it was more like they went and abused a CBA loophole to get an expensive car for REALLY cheap. They got punished.

So they went back and re-acquired that vehicle through proper means and now the car broke down.

Separate incidents and the punishment was for the first one. They won't get their pick back.

(To clarify I think losing their pick for a rule that never existed was dumb in the first place though)

Anyone think Martin Hanzal could replace Gagner as 2C?
