Also to all, any chance Kevin Roy makes the squad? Was apart of the Canada-Russia challenge last year and had a very nice year at Northeastern. Could add some offensive spark if that's weak on the team this year.

Great decision to bring him back. Like Hunter coaching the U-18's too.

A new management group will oversee hockey operations for the program. Group members include Blainville-Boisbriand Armada GM Joel Bouchard, Phoenix Coyotes goaltender coach Sean Burke, Kelowna Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton and London Knights GM Mark Hunter.

The group will work directly with Brad Pascall and Scott Salmond to oversee operations of the under-17, under-18 and under-20 programs. Pascall is Hockey Canada's vice-president of hockey operations and national teams while Salmond is the senior director of hockey operations and national teams.

Is a complete waste of space and a bureaucrat..should have been tossed out along with Pendergast. The only function he is able to serve is making sure any of team players get a pre curfew snack.

Nurse is on my list of Top 6 along with Ekblad as the other underage player. And the 7th D-man comes down to a battle between Morin (underager) and Dumba. My preference is Morin..but we'll see how he starts the year. Also it depends on if Reilly is available. He may just stick with the leafs out of camp, therefore we are down our best Right-Handed D-man. Reinhart has a 3 game suspension to serve at the beginning of the tournament.

Jankowski (CGY) and Leipsic (NSH) have both been added to the U20 summer camp roster:

Great to hear that another Friar has a chance to ply in the WJC this year. Looking forward to a big sophmore season from him

Wonder what happened to the rule where a player needs to report to summer camp to get a chance of playing for Wjc
Anyway, it seems all four that turned down offer will be playing NHL anyway. .
I didn't read anywhere where Monahan wasn't going.

It's interesting that Jankowski's uncle Ryan Jankowski replaced Prendergast at head scout at Hockey Canada a couple of week back and all of a sudden Mark gets a late invite

No one turned down going to camp. Four players that were on the Team last year are not going to Lake Placid but will attend the camp at Brossard.

I've never seen the kid play...so I'll reserve judgement for now... but this could potentially blow the the BS meter at HC (which is in most cases already pretty high) up into the upper stratosphere.

apparently, there's nothing bs about it...and the fact i observed he was ignored by HC until his uncle was named head scout makes me a mean person. when i noted my findings on WJC thread on the prospects board, i received this charming comment

I get that reaction as well when I question the goings on at HC, the cronyism, the BS politics, the gross commercialization of the junior program (HC's cash cow) and the nepotism...
There are some among us who apparently love to bend over and take whatever HC has for them or swallow whatever line of BS emanating from Calgary without any gag reflex whatsoever.

^^ No way they have that many young D-men on the roster. Three 2013 draftees and a 2014 draftee? I don't see it.

Either I am high or am i missing something with the lack of horvat in most of these rosters, compared to the prospects thread?.

Horvat is a two way monster, he dominated the canucks prospects camp just a few weeks ago, Strong on his skates, MVP of the playoffs, and had broken out as a force.

Check out 1:06, and 2:40 onwards.

His skating and strength on his skates is nuts.

So what am I missing here?.

MacKinnon and Drouin aren't going to be available unfortunately. Some would also argue Rielly and Monahan might make TOR/CAL respectively out of training camp especially with the lack of C depth in Calgary.

I'm anticipating being short 4-5 key guys. I am not optimistic about our medal chances for the tournament in Malmo. But we'll see how it goes in the December camp and the how the final roster looks. Other teams will be short players as well, i.e. Jones/Nichushkin/Barkov etc.
