Dillon is underrated by everyone except Stars fans. Top 10 pick+Top 6 winger? Really?

So this thread has basically turned into people just *****ing rather than actually discussing anything at this point. Woohoo.

Kind of agree with non-stars fans, you guys need to cool it a little. Ya he is good, ya he is young, ya he will be an amazing player, but some of the posts here are way out of line.

Just wondering. What was the knock on this guy? Why has he come out of nowhere relatively speaking? I like the little I've seen of him and I'm sure I'll be hating him real soon due to realignment.

Grew like 6 inches in his 18 year I think

Dillon is a fluid skater in a big frame. His shot is pretty hard but semi-accurate, and he plays strong D with his head up. There is no reason to think he won't improve, but he is far from top 10 pick worthy. Give him some time and he will show you how responsible he is on and off the ice.

During juniors he was small, but he literally grew one foot and X pounds in one-two years and became this huge beast.

He's young, and could play a shutdown role. He has upside too, but still is unpolished. Basically his game can improve from what he has shown so far. I would like to see him in Montreal,

A 2nd + diaz or a 3rd line forward

Thanks Stars and Prime. Great job by your management bringing him in and your coaches letting him have some rope. Great story. Hopefully he has a great second season but stubs his toe before games versus Jets.

That's a bit off in my opinion. Start at a little bit below the value of Brodin and go from there.

Brodin has proven himself a top 2 dman. Dillon hasn't. He has an untapped offensive upside, but not to brodin's level. Dillon, to me is a solid physical 2nd pair dman that can make a good clearing pass and a solid shot (think Emelin).

I'm not one off those who say that overrate Dillon (see my previous post) but to be fair Brodin's and Dillon's year was very comparable. Brodin also played with Suter if I remember it right while Dillon was the best D-man one the Stars last season (not saying much I know).

This is true, but their style is different, and Brodin does have the higher upside (but that doesn't mean either will meet or surpass their expected ceilings)

This is what I believe he's worth, and as a Dallas fan I'm likely overrating him.
Seriously? He's not even close to being worth that.

Their styles are very similar except Dillon is a lot more physical...

What are you talking about? You have no idea, do you?

I'd do that in in a heartbeat lmao. However, these proposals are stupid so their is really no point in discussing them.

Dillon should be a very solid D if all goes according to plan. If you take any of the Stars' fan's posts here seriously, you'd think he has nowhere to go but up and that's rarely ever the case for any defenseman. Here's to hoping Dillon pans out after a great season aside Robidas, but the whole top 6 plus a top 10 pick stuff is hilarity. I'm actually quietly chuckling to myself. Second coming of Pronger says Stars fans!

I would offer Toews, newly signed Kruger, Hjalmarsson and a 1st for Dillon? Bout fair value?

What kind of response is this? You're the one saying they're not similar when they are, so tell us the differences then, "mr.pro scout".

In other words, many defensemen peak in their rookie seasons. Fascinating theory.

Skating, puck skill, physicality, offensive IQ, shot selection, defensive styles, potential ceilings...brodin is a PMD who can play a little physical, Dillon is a stay at home minute eater that can make a solid clearing play and has a hard slapper.

You're right...it's like a photocopy. But what do I know....I've never seen them play right
