...and I liked it when a Hershey's bar cost me a nickel. Bergeron at $6.5 is a good deal for both sides. I think what we've learned is that you win with guys like him in your lineup. He impacts every shift, every night, even when he's not scoring.

Tons of term in that deal. Then again he's expected to take the C when Chara is done with it right? So you gotta lock your core up.

Pretty solid cap hit. The exact number that I predicted in the Rask thread actually I think

8 years though. That's a long time for a guy who has had concussion issues...

It's not a discount but it is a discount.

Bergeron's real value is about 6.5M. He's great defensively and is a ~55-60 point center who is great on the PK, ES and faceoffs...but if he went to UFA, teams would easily have given him 7.5M.

That is why I see it as a discount.

Players like this are what keeps a team good.

Takes a haircut to help the team. Great signing. Bruins fans are lucky.

Great deal.

He must be a bit annoyed that his goalie wasn't as willing to take a discount as he was. He's obviously thinking the team when signing this deal.

about 2.5mil with Savards LTIR
I believe they will need to use the bonus cushion to push Iginla's extra money out to next year, though at that point I believe they will probably let Seidenberg walk, which clears about 3.5mil

This extension starts in 14-15. He's under contract for this year already.

The things I would do to have Toews (and presumably Kane too) locked up on deals remotely similar to this. What a deal.

2 cups, Conn Smythes, Selke for Toews?

They would have to be very generous to take anything below 7.5M IMO.

OT: especially based on what Getz & Perry got.

Also, good deal for Bruins here. But this one makes Rasks contract that much worse. B's are really shelling out the contracts this week.

Heart and soul of the Bruins . Not a great contract, but not brutal either.
Would love to have him on the Habs

How is this a steal? I think it's fair value for both sides. Exactly what he's worth. But not a steal by any stretch.
