Of all the Bruins to leave the past ten years or so, Ference hurts the most. Dude could play in any era, and was the quintessential teammate. He is going to be missed on the ice, in the room, and maybe mostly in the city itself. They just don't make humans, never mind hockey players like this guy anymore...

I'm betting that Edmonton will realize the assets that Andy brings to the table and lock him into an front office position when his playing days are over. This guy should be future a member of the NHL cognoscenti in some capacity. He is the whole package: brains, brawn, guts, and graciousness.

I hate that he's gone. I understand it, but I hate it.

I. HATE. IT.

Now I will go wrap myself in my Ference jersey and cry.

He/B's were pretty much a victim of the low cap this year. That and the B's have a bunch of young cheap guys that can take his place in the lineup if not in the community and our hearts. It was strictly business driven.

Hope Andy gets to wear the spoked B again before he retires. I hare that he's gone. I know it had to happen but ugh. He embraced this culture, this team, this city from the minute he got here. Hes a Bostonian in my eyes. Classy tree hugging b*****d he is Edmonton got a great guy to lead those young kids.

I hope someone on our team steps up next season and keeps the jacket thing going. Its a great tradition. I want it to continue.

Hope you get to wear our jersey again, Andy. Sometime down the road,

The movers are here and boxes are piling up! I’m excited to get to Edmonton on Sunday and start the next chapter. Monday AM workout anyone?

This man was truly a wonderful human being.

From a pure human value point of view, he was the best.

I will miss him.

And the thing is, Andrew knows that. No hard feelings. He gets a great contract to finish out his career, and he gets to do so in his hometown.

I do hope he comes back to Boston in four years, and I would love it if he got a job with the Bruins, but I think really the sky's the limit for him. I've said it before but I wouldn't be surprised to see him working for an NGO or going into politics or something.

If NHL.com doesn't make a jersey T with him on it, I will order one custom with his name and number...

Before the season started, I was planning on ordering a Ference jersey this summer for myself (I always get them in the off-season)....then second guessed when I heard he wasn't being resigned.

But with everything he's done since that news came out I chose not to doubt and I ordered it this morning from IceJerseys....can't wait for it to arrive.

I have to admit, I loved Ference when he was in Calgary (where I grew up) and was elated when he was traded to Boston a couple of years ago. Now, I'm certainly saddened that he is no longer a Bruin, but given the circumstances I'm really excited to have in here in Edmonton. Not being from Boston but hearing the stories of his community advocacy and whatnot, I'm excited to have that voice in the city that I now live in.

I'm no Oilers fan, but I think I'll be getting an Oilers Ference jersey when I get a chance.
